Description The most successful clade of land animals on Aeolus - a human colony world not far from Earth - descended from organisms with hexaradial symmetry, although each segment has differentiated to the point they're bilaterally symmetrical. Their mouth is placed under their body, and in the clade Dicephalida, the front pair of limbs have developed into pedipalps - which to the human settlers resemble two heads.

Unlike most dicephalids, whose "toes" consist of tentacle-like muscular hydrostats, those of taripalids, and other groups comprising the order Eudactylotheria, are supported by bone. In taripalids specifically, the digits of the legs have developed into hooves, well suited for running, and those of the pedipalps are well suited for their carnivorous diet. The strength that their finger bones afford them allows them to break down meat with their pedipalps more than they do with their jaws.
