Description Rose and Buddy. They were survivors. I don't know much about their past, but both were abused and worked nearly to death at a church camp. They were only fed hay, and in a pasture full of young, strong horses, they weren't able to fight for their food. Starved and dying, they were finally rescued. They had to be given electrolytes so that they would be able to stand and walk to the trailer. After months of rehabilitation, they finally came a part of my life. My sister and I had them for a few years. They were so much fun. Buddy would nicker every time he saw us, and had the spirit of a colt. Rose always had sad-looking eyes, but was very sweet, although stubborn. She had trouble breathing and was partially lame. Eventually, we had to part ways with Buddy and Rose because we could no longer afford them. It was extremely sad to see them go, but we knew they would be happy going back to the person who saved their lives. A few months ago I got a letter that said they had passed away. I don't want to go into extreme detail because it's still painful to think about, but basically Buddy had cancer...we never knew...and one day it reached his brain (we think). He lay dying in his pasture. Rose knew something was wrong and layed down next to him. The vet was called, but they both breathed their last breath together....at the same time. Horses love, and they don't fear death. That's why I think they chose to die together. Rest in peace, Buddy and Rose. May you be strong, happy, and young again in Heaven.
