Description
Full body commission for Zasha, of his winged white wolf character! I love the simplicity of single color characters like this, it always turns out to be a striking look when the art is finished. I really had a lot of fun with this one, because I LOVE painting wings. As you can see I am somewhat obsessed with transmitted light through feathers, but I can't seem to stop myself!12 hours in Photoshop CS6 with an Intuos 3 tablet

What a beautiful piece! Tight composition, an appealing and evocative pose, a simple and strong color palette, and great play of light and shadow. Bravo!
I agree about the "transmitted" light: I love observing that in life with rabbits' and dogs' ears, and with birds' wings when they circle above. And I love seeing it in art. It is a sign that an artist is really paying attention to how light behaves, and is also striving to craft a dramatic depiction.
I love the pose! It is not only attractive, but it has a storytelling aspect. Is the character alighting, or leaping? Or pausing in flight? I follow the eyes and wonder: what does the character's gaze take in?

Oh I love this! I am a sucker for winged wolves XD. The transparency in the wings is striking. Just the shadow you put behind it gave the piece so much depth! It really gives the sunny feel. I also like how you use intense lighting (pure white!) to add the sunny sky.
