The 1-Up insignia is a cute homage to "Jump Up, Super Star!". Mine is 81, the year she made her debut along with Mario and Donkey Kong with a hat emblem.

Yeah. If she went up against Mario or Bowser, she'd have her red swapped with the black, similar to how some other characters have alts, like Yoshi and Daisy.

I imagine Rosalina's would turn yellow if she went up against Waluigi, since they both have bluish colors.

It's one of her big colors in Mario Kart Wii. Very obvious on the Honeycoupe/Dragonetti, which is all yellow.
