Description lol I impressed all the people at my nephew's party as they watched me make this, made me pretty happy *so does not have a swelled head*

KIKI'S ANIMAL FACTS:
The ceetah is widely known for it's extreme speed, reaching nearly 115 mph, although it lacks the tree climbing abilities of other cats. It is the only living subspecies of the acinonyx family.

The cheetah has short coarse tan fur, with black spotting, providing great camoflauge. And distinct bwhere the spots are unusually large. These can be called king cheetahs, thought it's been discovered they are not a sperate species. Black markings around it's nose and eyes to deflect sunlights from it's eyes. Some cheetahs gave a pattern mutation the body grows to 53 inches, and the tail to 33 inches.

The cheetah is the only 'big cat' that has the ability to purr. and it makes chirping sounds which sounds like a bird.

Their habitat ranges throughout both africa and south west asia, thriving in areas similiar to savannah, and prairie lands. And while they still existed in europe, aristocrats tamed them and used them to hunt, much like foxing hounds today.

I love the style and pose, the feeling of the picture is very soft and quiet and restful

Beautiful painting!
If I was at your nephews party.. I would've done the same as everyone else that watched you.
I love any animal in the cat family, but I'm always amazed how people can paint & draw freehanded.
Alls I can do is the paint by number or draw only with a reference picture.

lol oh don't mis understand XD
when trying to paint animals I always have a few references on hand to make sure I'm doing I'm not horrably disfiguring the poor thing, like unknowingly reversing the jointing in their from legs (did you know that some breeds of dogs have front legs that hing forwards, while other breeds hinge the opposite way? I had no idea until someone pointed it out and said I mutated a husky )

lol point being that references are pretty important when you don't have a great knowledge of the anatomy already learned

People I'm a bit better at, though I'm not to great at drawing guys yet XD

and lol to be totally honest I was horrable at staying in the lines with paint by numbers rofl XD

Ya I do agree with the references.
They really help when ya don't know the anatomy of what your try to create.
That's funny how ya had trouble staying in the lines with paint by numbers though.
The only trouble I have is color mixing.
It's hard to maintain the same shades lol.

lol I think my problem at the time when I was trying to do color by number is that my hand was really shaky, and I was like trying to do the slightly harder ones like the tiger taking a drink of water and what not
hehe

That's understandable. There's been times my hand has been really shaky while I paint. Even now as I make jewelry my hands sometimes shake. It's really annoying when you're really trying to concentrate.

That would be a tough paint by number though. I'd love to try it hehe. I painted one of a tiger swimming in a lake. That was a little tough cause of the reflections in the water of the tiger. I think it came out pretty decent for my 2nd paint by number paintings. I have it in my gallery if ya like to see it. [link]

Nice composition. Nice colors. Nice texture.

BUT what is missing are details and more shadows. Because the animal so far doesn't look really plastical yet and it's just an arrangement of color shapes. It's rather a draft, although it's nice overall.

ah yes. currently I'm working off of a low end computer, so I've been limited to how much I can do before my computer starts lagging unbarrably.

I very well might go back when I have a more powerful computer and rework some of these more recent paintings

but thanks for the response, I very much appreciate the feedback

Oh, cheetahs are awesome! They are my absolute favorite big cat species!

Now that I've finished gushing, I will say that you've done an excellent job!

I know. Sometimes if there's a new program on cheetas on the TV, it's damn near impossible to get me to let go of the remote.

lol my parents used to hate when I watched big cat diary, because my mother, who watched c-sections and operations on tv, thought watching animals eating other animals was horrific heh

I have had a similar experience. My chain-smoking grandmother thinks that my taste in music is unhealthy! You know those plotless soap operas- the ones that have the same things happening over and over, just to different characters? Well, she watches those all day while belittling me for liking "Transformers". Sure, it's a cartoon, but at least it has an actual plot!

I'd better stop before I begin to rant.

lol no no I TOTALLY understand my mom watches eh... I think it's days of our lifes and the young and the restless.

sad thing is while I hate watching the shows, I often find myself having to sit through them, and then one day I realized that I better be careful, because I managed to avoid them for like a week, then while having to sit through the next one, because I was doing homework in the livingroom, i actually asked what happened to blatently generic character in the last more or less generic episode.

So now I do my homework upstairs now XD

Oh, I just remembered! I believe that it's 115 KILOMETERS per hour, not 115 MILES PER HOUR. 115 mph sounds a bit fast, even for a cheetah.

KatsumiShiokawa In reply to Irrepressable [2009-11-30 16:49:52 +0000 UTC]

lol actually I googled it out of curiosity, seems their consistent running speed is at 75 mph, but there have been recording of cheetahs maxing around 125 mpg so I think you were right with the 115 mph n .n

I suppose in my case it's both a good thing and a bad thing that I literally cannot breathe when there is a lit cigarette in the room. Yeah, soap operas are fail in general. Desperate Housewives seems to go along the same concept- too much drama to form an effective plot.

aww~! thanks you!

It was rather funny because, since it's been so long since I've been able to do these, I was like flipping my mind over trying to figure out how to get back to the style I was drawing them with before

*points to how my last two had more outlines, which I personally wished weren't there*

lol

so this one I was soooo happy with, because I fell I got that style back again! n .n

although switching back to my own computer (was using my sister's laptop at her house) I didn't realize how the background was like a nuclear green color. X'D

Hehe, I see ^^ Well, I think you did pretty well in them all, considering :3
Also, the green background matches very well with the cheetah so well done xD
