Description
I came up with the idea to shoot up like a Space Pirate was coming out of a gap in the wall, and Vince worked his composition and lighting magic and turned it into an awesome photo. If I had the skills, I would photoshop some vague shape in the darkness, but if I tried it would probably come out looking comically awful.
Costume made and worn by me, Paralyzer by my friend Derek.

Photo-shopping the outside would be an easy fix. adding a eerie blue/green color cast will take a little more work. I could probably do it for you. I like the geometry of the structure, all one needs is the ambience.

Would you make a couple rips and holes in the suit and make a shoot where the character has taken battle damage from an explosion or something? That would look great

I wouldn't dream of damaging this suit. It means far too much to me to ruin by putting holes in it. Battle damage would look good on a Varia suit, but I could never bring myself to rip holes into something I'd worked so hard on.

You could just open the suit a little at the seams in certain places to create the illusion of battle damage, sewing seams back together isn't that difficult of a job!

Unfortunately, ripping and re-sewing seams in spandex can cause permanent damage to the fabric, especially with seams as complicated as these. Please stop asking me to deface my costumes.

I did not, unfortunately, and it looks like I forgot to put that into a couple descriptions. Thanks for reminding me! The gun was carved from wood by my friend Derek.

That's really cool! other cosplayers told me that they used toy guns with other materials for similar ones, a carved one is really cool! Congrats to your friend

I think it's very difficult for women to cosplay as Zero Suit Samus without being viewed as sex objects. It's a very well made costume, but still... that's not what people are going to look at, me included. All I see in this pic is a surprisingly big butt. Sorry for being blunt, but at least I'm honest, and I don't mask comments like "sexy" as "awesome".

At times, it can be immensely difficult to cosplay not only as Samus, but as anyone in general. I get a lot of inappropriate comments about my body even with my most modest costumes.
The thing about complimenting girls that you find attractive is that you don't have to tell them you find them attractive right off the bat. For example, if I see a sexy Night Elf cosplayer with skimpy armor, do I notice her body first? Sure, but I can look at her armor and not just her body and compliment her on that. Or there's even ways of combining the two, such as, "That costume really suits you!" or "Your armor came out really nice; it looks great on you!" There's no need to comment about...assets, as it were. And I think "expecting" pervy comments for every single photo I upload shows so little faith in humanity. Though it's fair that of all websites in which I would lose faith in humanity, dA would have to be at the top of the list.

I understand what you mean, but I don't share your vision that you should censor your thoughts like that. If I think something, I speak out loud and clear. I prefer that to saying:
"Wow, that suit looks awesome on you"
while thinking:
"Fuck, your ass is so sexy"
That way, true thoughts and opinions are often spread behind the back of the subject, and that's something I'm strongly against.
I mean, so many people who say "you look great" really mean "sexy ass", but they self censor their choice of words because they're scared of not expressing themselves in a politically correct way.
A woman's body is almost always a sex object, no matter what she wears.

I have to really commend you, it almost looks like you made the shoes yourself, or lucked out and find a pair that fit perfectly with the outfit.
Photoshopping what you wanted in could be easily done, especially if you were going for vague, floaty shapes.

I found a pair of loafers with the correct heels and made bootcovers for them. That's the secret. ;D
