*drum roll*Okay, guys, it's time to celebrate, I guess.
I just had my first real photo job, and I'm completely happy with the outcome. Someone wanted me to take pictures of her Haflinger mare before she unfortunately has to sell her, and we spent a very early, but very rewarding morning with "Tina".

Haflingers are lovely! This really captures a lovely sense of happiness, those flowers sure do help!
I used to ride one at my old riding school before she had an accident and broke her neck

That isa beautiful mare, and although the colours are amazing in this photo- not to mention the composition and focus.. Its a shame the sky is overcast!

I actually like the sky in this picture much more than if it were a blue sky. It somehow really brings out the colours and makes the picture more dramatic. I thought the conditions that morning were PERFECT.
And yes, unfortunately, she has to sell that mare because she will be having a lot of stress graduating and then studying, and she fears that she won't enough time for her anymore. But I think it's nice that she decided to do what's best for the horse, even if she will be sad to lose her.

thats unfortunate! will she get to see it with the new owners? I have a friend who has horses, and I remember just how much time they take out of your day. Every day they visited them before school, then after school, and at teh weekends.. her mum wouldnt let her go out sometimes because she had to train for a competition in dressage or something =s

She doesn't know yet who will buy her. She hopes the two people who share the mare now (taking turns riding her) will buy her, but she will have to see.

This is a fabulous shot - great light and colours and a real sense of a character portrait. It also looks as if you were in serious danger of being run down by the horse while taking it!

Thank you, I'm SO happy with the results of this shooting, as well. I was quite nervous the night before, but we were very lucky to catch the only sunshine that day, so falling out of my bed in the middle of the night paid off.
At first, I was a bit troubled, too, the way the mare ran toward me, but she was nice enough to stop when she reached me. She was a very friendly (if hungry!) horse.

The light and the colors in the early morning really make a brilliant photo! Looking at the thumbnail it looks photoshopped until you blow it up and BANG!!!

Yeah, I know, the small thumbs really look fake. I guess it's just the way her colour works. It was a PERFECT morning and we were so lucky to capture the only sunlight we had for a week or so... although we had to get up at 4.45 for it, it was totally worth it.
And I agree, she is an absolute cutie. Haflinger horses are the friendliest horses I know.
