From the thumbnail, I thought the curled part was a fuzzy caterpillar! I love the curled leaves of the fern.

I can imagine, just a slight wind moving the plant can make the shot blurry.
I use short shutter times between 160 and 200 depending on the light and multi-shot mode to get 1-2 focussed pics in such cases.
