The Super-Talented Chris Kohler has recently been doing some of his best work with a series of cover recreations. His inks are unbelievably detailed fav.me/d777tbm, and he has the uncanny ability to mimic the style of many legendary artists. If you've never checked his gallery, YOU MUST!!!

When I was coloring this, I wanted to stay true to the palette of the original, but give it the look of digitally colored and shaded modern comic art. What do you think of my colors?

Thanks, I think Bolland is one of the greatest, had to be tough to replicate, but you recreated this one perfectly.
I noticed that the actual cover would cut off areas that you recreated. Do you have access to the full image inks to reference? or is that areas you had to improvise?

I improvise for the portion under the dreaded UPC box.
For the edges, sometimes I can find a couple of different scans from different copies, which reveal bits of each other that are cut off. Different copies will sometimes have different trim spots by up to a quarter inch or so!

The coloring on this is absolutely gorgeous. I thought it was real when I first looked at it!
Also, just as an aside... the image is really creepy to me for some reason.
