Drew this last night.

It's been over a month since I've hardly got to worked on any more art, and now it is time to be back in action with all that after having personal break from life in between. Last weekend, I've began reading the original novel for Coraline (written by Neil "The Sandman" Gaiman) as currently plan on watching its wondrous film adaptation soon and the novel is getting pretty good so far. It quickly led me to an ideal recast for this classic story in which my great bestie Holly & I would collaborate and it is still in "work in progress" this week. Her first choice for who will play the heroine was Maka Albarn (from Soul Eater), which seemed to be interesting yet fine by me. So I've decided to sketch a little piece on her portraying as Coraline along with adding in Artemis (from Sailor Moon) as The Cat while capturing the classic poster-art for the film except in my style for which I've added in a button (which represents that from The Other World she will be entering) & the portal to that Other World inside her little door. I've used orange, pink, & light blue color pens to make swirls around our heroes for a colorful effect on the portal. Also, this marked my first time sketching Maka since she was one Soul Eater character I've never drew before... the night before I did this piece, I've had some difficulty on drawing her as well needed little more time to visualize how this piece would go in the end for which the final result turned out like this last night finally. I was very pleased with how I've finally got Maka right as I'd wanted in my style plus she is wearing Coraline's star sweater, too. Artemis was easy to do since I've drawn him lots of times before. Had to ink in her clothing along with the moon-crest on his head and the button while finishing things up in the end. While working on this piece on the first attempt before this finished part (which I have now), I came up with the title for our latest recast on the film and that is "Through the Other World" because how half of Coraline takes place in that strange universe & refers to the other classic fantasy book title Through the Looking Glass (a sequel to Alice In Wonderland). I am sure Holly will be thrilled to see this poster-like teaser for the forthcoming recast we're working on now, and please stay tuned for the complete recast once we're finished soon.
