Lightning Farron from Final Fantasy XIIISo Lightning is just pure awesome, and I think she's my favorite Final Fantasy character

I'm still not sure if her hair is the right color. Lightning's hair color is really hard to pinpoint because the color seems to look different in all sorts of lighting. I literally strove for a blondish pink look. While I can understand that it's hard to get Lightning's hair color right, it baffles me sometimes when I see lightning fanart that has her hair like a flaming pink color, or a bright bright bubble gum pink. And I'm like NO, it's NOT that pink, it's got a blondish color to it too. But I don't know, I don't think I can talk because I'm not sure I mastered the color either....but at least it's not like hot pink.
This piece is open to critique. There is something wrong with her face. Part of it is my style, and it interferes with her features a little bit. For some reason, I get this "Donald Trump" look from her face o_O and I can't put my finger around what is causing that effect. Any thoughts or redlines would be greatly appreciated!

For me, it wasn't necessarily the hair that didn't seem right, it was the facial features. There were certain parts of the game where Lightning's face looks totally different and weird. That or the game designers chose terrible camera angles that just didn't flatter her face.

So pretty *_* I love the color pallet you used. I like how subtle the shading is, but then the shadows still have a hard edge to them to create contrast.
Also the hair is really pretty. All that texture looks really wonderful.

Great job! I like the detail. :3 I have the same problem with Lightning's hair color. I only have colored pencils and all of the colors I had were bright pink. I managed to make her hair not bright pink, but it still was the wrong color. But I think you did a wonderful job on her hair. Lightning is my favorite character as well.

Yeah, lightning's hair is definitely difficult. And you're right, you're definitely more limited when you're working with color pencils. I think with lightning, it's all about blending the blond with the pink.

The hair color looks fine. I think the "problem" is that her face and nose is longer than in the game(? or is it animation?) but I like this better.
I thought she was some general. She reminded me of a dragon captain in the Temeraire series.

Yeah, like I said I think part of it is my style. I tend to draw long masculine faces with long noses. In fact her face was much longer in the original sketch. I did some tweaking to make her head shorter, I suppose it still is kinda long. It's something I need to work on.
And she's an ex-sergeant if I remember correctly, so you're not too far off, she was in the military lol
