Description NOTE: I put this under mature, NOT because it contains mature content, actually not at all... but it does contain SPOILERS. If you haven't been keeping up with the manga up until at least volume 10, then look at your own risk.

Man, I adore D.Gray Man...I really adore the art Hoshino Katsura does. It's truly amazing. And the story is frigin good! AND ALLEN IS AWSOME! When he reaches his true form of his innocene I was like DAMN!!! *grins like a giddy girl with a cute crush* Allen, my hero. Sadly to say I am most like Allen in all the personality tests I have taken...which means I have to find a guy like Linalee...*shivers* Uhlp...maybe I'll leave that for later. HENCE TO THE DISCRIPTION OF THE IMAGE!

I again used my TRIA/copic markers for this. And a LOT of india ink believe me. This image took me forever but it's actually been portraying my feelings of life lately...especially since this was created at the end of my portfolio...a harsh time mind you. BUT YAY! IT'S DONE! Both are completed. *sighs*

This is my rendition of Allen, and one of the best images ever seen in DGM I personally think...the worlds of the living, and the dead. Of light and dark, of Beginning and end...both connected, both ever intertwined...and both a reality we must face eyes open and ever unshaken. For without life, death would have no meaning, and without death, no rebirth and the corruption of stagnation would occur leaving us with nothing but endless sorrow and angish.....

WHOA! Philosophical angstyness, okay ending there! Hope you like it guys!!!

This is really cool, you have a talent. I plan to try and get better with my art as well... but you don't need to do much more... the only thing I see wrong is his right hand. I don't know how to put it, but it doesn't look right is all. But other wise this is a great piece.

Yup, I believe that D. Gray-man is also a great series as well. I just can't wait to see more as the story continues for both the anime and manga. Have you heard Access yet? They really are great, and it looks like the music just keeps getting better; and apparently faster.

I adore your effort :] As for me, I usually give up half way finishing anything -_____-

By the way, can you answer my totally-n00b-lamequestions? Do you like working with Tria markers? If you compare them with copic markers, which one do you think is a more worthy buy? What are the pros for Tria markers?

If you can't answer them, it's find. I'll further abuse google then.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kawaii-Ash In reply to mintntea [2007-03-25 23:07:57 +0000 UTC]

HA HA HA!! Abuse google, that sounds like me! Well as far as I can tell in the short time that I have used them, there are a few good points and bad points to each marker.

Copic - Good points: That you can blend the colors together if you don't have that many markers. I mean, well say for instance you have a yellow, and you add that first. If you applied a blue overtop, it would apprear green!

NOTE: With the tria markers, this isn't so for some odd reason. It stays the same color no matter what. So you have to buy all the colors if you want to do layering.

Bad points: Copic markers are expensive. Especially if you buy them individually. And in ways the nibs are good, like if you wanted to use a paint brush for all your stuff, and be quick like that. But if you normally use it like normal markers, they aren't like that. Sure it has a hard nib side, but it's huge! It's hard to do detail with that nib.

Tria Markers - Good points: They have 3 nibs! Yes! A brush, a small nib for details, and the big one. They all don't run heavily. I mean..well for copic you need to apply them fast before they dry, otherwise you'll see the darker application. With tria (this is also a downside I guess), it usually takes a little bit more time to dry, and the appearance of those lines are less, unless you add like for layers to make a darker apprearance appear. This also depends on the type of paper you use. I use paper especially made for marker usage. So all this comes from that effect.

Bad points: Sadly, they tend to dry lighter than when you first apply them. So if you want the lighter and the darker shades, you either have to buy a load of markers, or apply 4 layers. *sigh*

Either way, they both are good. I like them both, but for financial issues, I am buying Tria now. They are cheaper if you want a lot of colors for less. Take your time, buy one of each, and use them before you choose. Hope this was of some help.

Awezome! lurve the sketchy feeling from the trees, shadows on the ground and the bg on top left side ^__^. Btw, ur trees look like those from ff7 ac lol wow, i'm pretty sure u draw waayy more than me. O.o Ya, i kinda started reading this series back sometime in november but i stopped after about chapter 30 or somethin. Well, anyway, I must say u've impressed me with this one There maybe a few minor lazy mistakes here and there, but the important thing is that the picture is well in balance, very well in balance i must say. (I love the split in the middle, and the light and dark sides lol). Well, i give u +fav for the balance and abstract feeling that u've portrayed in this picture Gj, and keep up the good work ^__^ hope to see u in the art world in the future. Now, don't fall out on me!

WOW! YAY!*dances around* Thank you very much! And yes, I do intend to make my own manga series one day, and my dream is to be one of the top anime artists in NA...I also want my stuff to eventually reach Japan...but no matter how long it takes I WILL TRIUMPH! *evil cackle* Wow, and I do adore most equal factors. Like black/white and so on and so forth. I am glad that you like it! You draw more too darn it!

LOL I'm glad ur happy, but take in account to that there are many striving in that same path. I myself would love to create a comic of my own lol, in fact 2 ^__^' However, I want you to realize one thing though, I've noticed that you draw mainly manga/anime style. Today, those who get immense popularity are those with an original style. Today's market is looking for a new fresh look, manga is becoming the new marvel. What you must do is create ur own style. It must not fall in either catigory of anime/amercian comic style. You must create something completely new. A new fresh look that will help change the course of drawing for everyone around the world, as did marvel in it's time, and how anime has now. When u enter ur university, (which i'm sure u'll make it in lol), they tell u the same thing. Look, i don't mean to be evil/mean in any way, I know u have incredible talent in arts, but take in account that too plz. Learn to take influence from different feilds such as; fine arts, graphic design, interior design, ect. For, if u concentrate in one section it becomes rigid and stale, learn to exercise your skills in different areas. Only then will it make you whole. Anyway ttyl, i just wanted to let know about that ^__^' i know you may have mixed feelings about this, but it is an important lesson that i've learnt from spending time with different types of artists in different feilds. Ps: dun wry i'll try n draw more too.

*smiles* I know, your right. It's hard sometimes though. I like doing other fields too, I just don't often get the chance. Well the only real material I have is my stuff I've shown here. Maybe I should work on other stuff...it's just I' such a critic. If I don't like my stuff, then I don't like it. End of story. I just, I need more inspiration. I need to travel more maybe...lack of money....but I need that...I really feel like doing anime because I enjoy it, but I like other art too. I'll try. Really. *grins* You remind me of my art teacher. You should be an art teacher! XD

DarkHobbit In reply to Kawaii-Ash [2007-03-20 13:38:57 +0000 UTC]

ya, sry if i depressed u in any way :S just, i felt that it was important to tell u that... i know that u probably knew that, but it's the most important thing in art, especially at this point. Cuz once ur out of university, it will be time to show off ur unique skills, and if the ppl who will be checking out ur art see something special, they will hire u. However, if they see typical anime, or wtv, ur chances of getting a job will rapidly decrease. It's just something the 3rd yrs. from 2 yrs. ago taught me, and it got me thinking...and about being a teacher......umm......i'm like uber shy, well not so much these days......but, i have like stage fright when i'm doin orals and such.. to teach for a whole class would be like a nightmare... another reason for which i'm in the illustration feild, and not in the fine arts feild ^__^' lol...

Awww... but I know you'd make a good teacher. *sighs* Maybe you should just emerse yourself in a big crowd of people. *ponders* It is practice, and also state of mind. When I was younger I won the storytelling award to my whole school. And I also won an canadian idol type thing in Jr. High in front of my school too. So, lately, I tend to be in the state of mind, that I don't mind other peoples opinions, but as long as I am happy with it, that's all that matters. Sure I'll try to broaden my horizons, but if someone hates my stuff or claims it to be stupid, I try to look at where they are comming from, and shake it off unless they have a reasonable cause to say so. I mean, sorry, a writer who doesn't know a thing about math, can't complain about how fast the rocket is going. I mean, you need to have a reasonable basis to claim something. I'm in the same position. Who am I to judge someones music, or computer or whatever skills they may have, if I have no experience in that field what so ever...you know? Anyways...It's practice my friend. I know you could do it if you put your heart into it. People will get that feeling, I know they will. Sometimes, messages are passed on with more that words.

lol, u seem to be a positive minded young lady Ash whereas, i tend to think negetively about a great deal of things as u may have noticed ^__^' anyway, about being a teacher? sure it may be fun, BUT, i'm just stubborn in the sense that i would never wanna become one. My reason for this is cuz i feel that if i do become a teacher, it will grant me the ability to teach students, however here is the downfall.. i do not want to stall myself in my art skills. I feel that if I teach I will be wasting my precious time teaching instead of praticing my skills to better myself. I just can't seem to waste time... i'm more the type where if I am eating for example, i should be doing something else at the mean time...not to waste time lol.....i dunno i'm just really really weird in that sense. It is a characteristic trait, and an annoying one at that lol.

Kawaii-Ash In reply to DarkHobbit [2007-04-01 02:18:36 +0000 UTC]

Ever person it a teacher and learner in one for the minute they are created into this world. Weither you like it or not, you may inspire someone to learn something new, and you may learn something from someone else. It doesn't have to be art in general. And besides, it's not like you can just STOP learning. But what you choose to learn, and be aware of is all in your court. Take for isntance, you choose to remain hidden from skills you afraid of attemping, or that you choose not to learn. It's not that you've stopped yourself from learning anything, but infact you are teaching yourself a pattern of denying yourself of something you might be go at. Hence the saying, you never know until you try.

Some people think that I am too positive, but I think of it rather, as trying to see the whole if I can help it. Yes, I know, I don't know everything. Heck, I won't even try to claim that I do. But I want to be intune with myself and all that surrounds me without the mind getting in the way. And if I can, I want to be as open as I can to everything I can.

And my friend, life is full of halves. You may see yourself as negative, but I don't see that entirely. Really, I just see someone who should trust themselves a little more. I know you could do anything you wanted, just believe in your own feelings and leave it at that. So you don't want to be a teacher, okay, then focus on what you do. And besides, you would never know positivity without a little negativity sometimes. Or even better, if all things were black and white....then why can't we merge them to grey. All things in peace. *closes eyes*
