Backstory:
The Spirit of Daybreaker is a fraction of Starlight's nightmare that managed to escape into Equestria. Just before Celestia defeated Daybreaker, part of the nightmare pony's magic escaped without being seen, and latched onto Celestia when she was ending the dream, allowing it to enter the waking world. Now, it hunts Celestia and waits until she's weakened or has powerful negative emotions, which is when it strikes. However, on rare occasions, it can strike when she's just fine. After it gets an opportunity, it enters through her horn. First, her eyes turn into Daybreaker's eyes. Then, she is lifted into the air, and an energy orb forms around her, transforming her into Daybreaker. It then takes control of her for several hours, sometimes more. After that, it leaves her body, leaving her in her pink maned form, weakened, and it cannot control her for a while after as it regains strength.

Personality:
The Spirit of Daybreaker doesn't exactly have a personality that differs from Daybreaker's. It seems merciless and emotionless, however.

Motives:
The Spirit of Daybreaker's motives are unknown, but it seems to love spreading chaos and misery, as it uses Celestia's body to do horrible things to ponies and Equestria in general, and seems to want to take over Equestria. However, Celestia is the one who is hurt most, as she can remember what happened while she was being controlled, and can even see what's happening through her own eyes, although she is powerless to stop the spirit's actions. She begs the spirit to leave her body while being controlled, but it cannot speak on its own, and even if it could, it wouldn't care. It seems to love torturing Celestia, as although it cannot speak (except to other creatures with Celestia's voice), it can show horrible images to its host.

Fun fact: The Spirit of Daybreaker's control is quite similar to the Yeerks' control from Animorphs. Like Celestia, a Yeerk’s host can see and hear what's going on while being controlled, but is completely powerless, only being able to speak to the Yeerk in their own mind. (Also, if you ever give Animorphs a try, just wait until you get to book 6. It's my favorite book in the series.)

Yes, it’s invisible. Not even Celestia can see it, so there’s no telling when it’s nearby to strike.

Update: Heeeeere's Daysaver!
