so, totally got me addicted to "Kyo Kara Maoh" (aka-God(?) Save Our King) ..and my favorite pairing from it is YuurixWolfram (or "Yuuram" for short

Actually the original novels were published under Kadokawa Shoten's "Bean Collection" Label that's aimed at young adult women. The author had previously done stories published in a Boys Love magazine and the illustrator/manga artist has several yaoi manga titles under her belt as well.
Also, while I'm unsure about the 1st 2 seasons for the TV series, the 3rd Season aired at 11 p.m. on a School Night.
That doesn't really sound like they were aiming for KKM to be a kids show to me.
