Yeah, but your's are supposed to go dormant! I'm still not really sure of the die back/pruning schedule here in Northern CA...down south I'd just hack them back on January 1...often cutting off flowers and new growth... Ah well, we'll see how they handled the snow in a week or so

Really not dormant or dead, They are completely frozen!!!

LOL! I guess even with the snow being on the plants for several days we weren't cold enough to do any damage...they're still green and well Although the tomato plants are done!!!

I don't know exactly how low we got but I know it was still in the upper teens...at the lowest! I don't know if I could handle it "your" cold but I know things are better prepared and equiped for snow where it more often happens!

You would think that here in Wyoming they would expect it to be coming in November... This is the second year in a row without snow on Halloween.

Most people are not that forethoughtful! LOL...we've had rain on Halloween - does that count?

In Wyoming, You have to design a costume to fit over a snowsuit....

ruth this is a beautiful rose........by the time we get snow all our flowers are gone so I dont need to cry over them. This scene hurts! but beautifully captured

This rose kept giving flowers up until I pruned it on Jan 1st last year...it seems to have not been hurt by the snow but we'll see I had fun playing with it ...

usually the blanket of snow protects them from the cold.....its a beautiful color

kayaksailor In reply to 1001G [2009-12-12 21:53:05 +0000 UTC]

The plant is looking fine today...the roses are a little bedraggled though I guess I'll have to do the annual pruning as soon as we get a few days of sunshine...

the color is interesting as the roses are usually white! the couple of misty flower shots I put up last month are from the same plant... maybe they turn white with the sunshine
