I adore those birds - they must of been one of the first things I can remember from the zoo. You've got it under intristing angle too, when his neck is a bit twisted - creates more complex view on the bird and makes his feathers play nicely in the wind.

The angle was forced upon me...he was standing on the edge of a "waterfall" cliff up in the aviary at the zoo...I was down on the walkway shooting up. But I liked the angle, too, so I didn't try very hard to find a more level spot!

I mostly end up there when it's poring rain like hell and getting any good photo is a dream

This was our first time at the LosAngels Zoo in 12 years and was a spur of the moment trip...it's about an hour away and we got there with onl a few hous of daylight left...we basically RAN the whole way! It required iso of 1600 and I wished for a tripod!

We have a small town zoo (only 30 minutes away) that we go to much more often, several times a year actually...it was just this one in Los Angeles that we haven't visited in 12 years...mostly 'cuz we hate driving in LA!!!! lol
