we'd gone down because a few nights before the building had been lit Pink for some Breast Cancer event...we thought it would still be pink, but sadly no...we had fun wandering around town anyway until the rain started again...

what happened in '63? (there were more palm trees but just to the left a few blocks away was a tall blue neon lit tower that just didn't go!! so I liked this cropping )

1963 was the year we drove down the Alcan from Alaska and down the whole California coast on the way to visit my uncle in San Diego...stops along the way in many places including Sacremento..

it's the west wing of the capital building...there were more 'bars' to the left but other signs beyond would have not be as good
