A small fire very close to my house last week gave me a ringside seat to watch the areal attack...in reality it was several miles away and while fires can travel that in a very short time the topography of the area would not have let it get to us...but we are all very grateful to the CAL (ifornia) Fire crews, both ground and air, for knocking it down before it reached any homes!Β it was the top hill at the very center/rear of this shot...

Yeah, CAL Fire was on it hard and fast...got called in at 9:30am and within the hour they had a couple helicopters on it and then four planes dumping - took several hours to get the ground crew in due to it being the middle of a cattle ranch with no "real" roads - just ATV paths...but they took the smaller truck off-roading LOL - it also was really steep, oak cover hill...

Yeah, we're on the local fire alert so we get text messages to our cell phones - I hadn't turned my phone on yet when my husband was calling me "where's the fire?!!" and a girl friend had facebook messaged me that another neighbor had posted that there was a fire on the ranch behind us... Β thank goodness CAL Fire is so good at what they do - when they do it hard and fast, lol...
We've been here long enough to know the wind paths so even if had spread we were not in the path... "whew"...
