It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed painting, don’t think I’ve been quite in the right frame of mind and wasn’t feeling the passion for it. But gave myself a little bit of a break and its starting to return. This one was a little experimental in the sense that I kind of left the drawing in there and painted over it. Used a bunch of “rake” brushes which allowed me to place these streaky brush strokes which work well for hair but also add a nice texture to skin. I think it helps to show the volumes of things. I came back to this a little later to try and correct a few things. It really helps to look at the piece with a fresh eye and I was able to improve it quite a bit in that time.
