EDIT!!! Cate has been turned into an earth pony. There were already too many pegasi picked for their roles for her to be one. until further notice, Cate is an earth pony.

Strengths: Caty's strength lies in her ability to see things deeper than the surface. She doesn't judge a pony based on first impressions, so when she has an opinion on character, it's usually a decent one.
She's also good at solving puzzles (as stated in her history) It takes quite the riddle to stump her, and she can untangle a mess of words to see the true meaning behind the flattery or lies.
She has a very good sense of direction (Due to her skills with maps and mazes) and rarely gets lost.

Weaknesses: Caty can be too smart for her britches. If she passes judgement on a situation or anypony, she tends to be too stubborn to retract her statement if (Celestia forbid!) she judged wrongly.
She can be very prideful at times, though she's not one to fall for flattery. She just toots her own horn, from time to time.
She's a pessimist, and doesn't take alot of happy, pleasent, "all is well with the world" Stories to be true. She only believes what she can sort out herself. She can sometimes disregard other ponies, thinking she knows better than they do, which has more often than not gotten her into a jam.

Fears: Caty only fears one thing. Being wrong. She'd protect her reputation to the end, and would hate for anypony to think she's stupid. She strives to be correct, and depending on how hard or long she has worked at solving a problem, and fails She can go into a dark, grouchy mood when with her friends/family. When she's by herself it's even worse, because she's left alone with her failure pounding in her head.

Goals: One of Caty's goals are to be the pony that makes puzzles, not solve them. She wants to be considered "mature", "level headed", and the filly with "horse sense". Deep down, I think she wants this recognition because she wants to know that other ponies trust her to care for other ponies, and not just books and puzzles. She's often been told that she has her nose in books too often, and is a hard case to crack. She wants to be more than that. She wants to be a friend that a pony can trust. She wants her friends to know that she will do everything in her power to help them solve their problems, and be prepared to help them whenever they need it.

OTHER Caty's colors are significant to her personality, surprisingly! With bright yellow signifying her bright mind, and active thoughts, and her light purple/dark purple mane suggestion deep thoughts, knowledge, and the ability to think clearly in hard situations.

She btained her cutie mark one day when she and her family were visiting Celestia's palace, and were invited on a tour of the Royal Labyrinth. caty's mind buzzing, she entered with the rest of the group, lead by a new tour guide, who had only been working in the garden for a few weeks. After about an hour of wandering around, the family and other guests began to suspect that they were lost. After pressing the matter to the Tour guide, he admitted that he was, indeed, muddled up. He couldn't recall how to exit the maze, or even backtrack his way to the entrance again. As the adult ponies began to discuss how to get themselves out, Caty's mind was buzzing. She had told herself every twist and turn was important, despite being guided. She nodded to herself before poking her mother in the leg.
"I think I know the way out."
Her mother and father, knowing how much she enjoyed her mazes, agreed to let her lead them to see if she could help them find the entrance. She quickly trotted left, right, right, left left, another right... Weaving in and out of the tall green foliage, her mind panning out a map of the maze they were trapped in. Each step she took, she marked off in her minds eye. After ffteen minutes, they came to a break in the foliage. Caty had succeeded in finding the entrance, and her cutie mark! After a round of congradulations to the small yellow filly, she looked up at her parents, puzzled by one thing.
"Dad? Mom? There's a pegas in the group.....couldn't they have flown over the hedge to see the way out?"
After a sheepish look between the two parents, they realized their daughter had more than a good head for mazes.....she also had good, common sense.

The streaks of darker purple in her mane and tail get wider as they hit the bottom of her hair, and blend to make her mane/tail tips a solid color.

I saw this comic, and thought it was an amazingly adorable, creative concept. [link]
Reading the artist's comments, I realized that the writter was looking for some other ponies to fill in the last two slots of the "Elements of Creativity", and a pony that has been in my mind some time has finally gotten a good use! She just popped out to me as the element of Forethought, "-A pony who plans out almost every move they make. No matter what the situation is, they do their best to plan out every step of the way. They always make it a point to pause and weigh their options, and they usually come out the smarter pony because of it."

Don't you think it fits? I hope they enjoy the application. if not, I might use her myself, or even set her out for adoption.
