Description This is the first image of an upcoming series. I cannot put into words the emotions I felt at this exhibit, but hopefully I can put it into images. I hope that as you look through the series you take the time to read each individual story. There is a real person behind each story, and they deserve to be heard. This is the literal "airing of society's dirty laundry" These are all victims just in Utah alone, and there are many more surrounding you. Please, be humane to each other.

To begin the series:

The Clothesline Project is a worldwide effort to educate, inform, and boost awareness of violence and abuse in our communities.
Clothesline Project Worldwide

The Colors:
Pink/Red: Sexual assault
White: Death as a result of violence
Blue/Green: Survivors of incest or childhood sexual assault
Yellow: Physical assault
Black: Disabled victims of assault, or assaulted because of a disability
Grey: emotional, spiritual and verbal assault
Lavender/Purple: Assault because of sexual orientation, perceived or otherwise

As the clothesline team travels, viewers are supported in writing their own stories on a shirt, in complete privacy and anonymity.

"Each Shirt is one survivor's testimony of their personal experience with violence. Some shirts in the display show fear, anger and pain while others show hope and healing. Each shirt represents it's creator's feelings, but does not reflect every survivor's attitude. The shirts in The Clothesline Project are not censored."
