Yes, it has been a very long time... I can explain myself though! *inhales*
I started going to a new university ( in February... yes..) and I'm currently studying to be a Psychiatric Nurse. It's a rather tough course so I haven't had much time to spend here on DA... I have been drawing though! There's another one to be uploaded tomorrow!
This is one of the 2 commissions I got. It has taken me way too long to finish these due coursework. I've also fallen ill twice (and am ill as we speak...)
I finished this one last month but never got around to upload it. It's absolutely not perfect but I did learn a lot from this drawing! The owner of this piece is happy with it though, and that's what counts! I prefer the left horse btw... the right one was just SOOOO hard to draw... not kidding.
Critique is welcome, but keep it nice okay? There's many mistakes in this and I am aware of that.
I will update a journal soon...

Wow, these are beautiful! For some reason I love the small details, like the horses' eyes and whiskers and the textures of the leather. You've done a great job handling the markings and the transitions between colour and white... and I admit I'm envious of your ability to shade (partially) white horses

It's the angles of the photo's that makes them appear small. I just drew them off the reference.

This is graphic/pencil, yes? Anyway, amazing job. I really dig the textures you used on both the horses and the halters, makes the material [fur versus leather] really stand out and gives the picture that little touch of 3D.
Anatomy looks fine to me, shadowing is great and the animals seem very expressive and just alive in general. I like how you chose a little different poses for both of them - maybe to showcase their personalities? Judging by this picture I'd also say the two horses are different breed, since their head shapes seem so different.
Those muzzle hairs or whatever they are called are really cute. :3 I always either forget them or they don't fit into the picture, since my style is not this realistic.
There is only one thing I'd change in this picture. That is the manes - they seem to fade away a bit too quickly for me, and seem very thin, especially on the left horse. This might be a scanner problem, however, and the general shape and flow of the manes is great.
Anyway, great work. Hope you get better and your studies go smoothly.

This is graphite pencils yes!
I didn't draw the horses out of my head though, I used two reference pictures that were given to by the commissioner and drew from what I could see on the picture!

The mane, ah yes, the mane in the pictures were hardly visible and since both were white maned, they kind of drowned in the background... there's wasn't much to see but the forelock ahaha.
