Description O good Horatio, what a wounded name,
Things standing thus unknown, shall live behind me!
If thou didst ever hold me in thy heart
Absent thee from felicity awhile,
And in this harsh world draw thy breath in pain,
To tell my story.

- Hamlet, Act V, Scene II.

Dual-duty art: promotional artwork for my local Shakespeare-in-the-park theatre (The Montford Park Players in Asheville, NC), but mostly a long-intended gift for ~irisbleufic . We both like to refer to this particular bit as the ‘Hamlet Pieta’, and have lots of feels together over it. I’ve been meaning to draw it for her for a long time, and doing artwork for the theatre this summer was a perfect excuse. <3

Graphite on illustration board, 8x16 inches, closer detail over on tumblr .

"Pieta." That is a very good term for it on so many levels.

Now cracks a noble heart. Good night sweet prince:
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!
