The one or two of you who are keeping up with my new sketchblog over at LJ [link] have seen the in-progress versions of this - and I actually managed to get it done in time for Otakon, where I got a copy signed by Van's original seiyuu, Tomokazu Seki. *flails and squees happily* (Why yes, I am still fangirling like crazy over it; whatever gave you that idea??)I've been a Van fangirl ever since I first saw Escaflowne, which was quite a while ago in the overall timeline of my relatively-short acquaintance with anime. It's surprising to me that I haven't made fanart of him looooong before now. Ah, well, situation remedied. XD Now to finish the WIP of Allen that's been sitting on my hard drive for months....
Oh, and since a couple people have asked: this was done in photoshop. ^^
Van is from Escaflowne and belongs (sadly) to Nobuteru Yuki and Sunrise.

Escaflowne really is one of my favorites if not favorite anime. It was so wonderfully done. You did a great job portraying Van Fanel.

I heard there was a second series, but I looked and never could find it. :/

There's never been a second anime series that I know of. There was an OVA, but that's it. There *were* two separate manga series based on it, but both sucked (according to everyone I've ever asked; manga based on already-existing anime tends to be pretty bad), and I'm kinda scared to even go near them.
I've always felt like Escaflowne was intended to be 52 episodes, but got cut short for some reason, and the animators had to finish it sooner than planned. It has a nice, logical pacing for most of the series, and then the last few eps are rushed and weird. Saaaaaaaaaad. *sighs*
