This reminds me of the ED209 from Robocop and one of the planet runners in Shattered Steel.

To make this more interesting, try adding wires or oil tubes around the leg hydraulics and all other moving parts! Small details usually make a big difference...
And good textures u got there...

yeah this is awesome, i love all those tiny details you added, i hope i learn soon how to apply texures in blender.
can i ask you what do you keep in mind before you render. to avoid wasted hours of waiting & crap renders.
And how many objects you used in this model?.

kazix In reply to wartistic [2004-09-21 10:56:06 +0000 UTC]
Well, i usually do a lot of test renders, cutting out things like any raytracing that isn't vital, AO or parts of the background. Also try to keep subsurfacing under 3 if you use it at all and you can also render it on smaller then 100% for a preview or things like turn down the OSA (oversampling). As for the model, theres heaps of different objects because it was my first real UV mapping and texturing job and i found it easier to each little part as a different map. The other reason i kept it as all individual objects is because i rigged it for animation and i find it easier with mechanical stuff to parent each part seperatly to the rig instead of using vertex groups.

Lovely model and texturing. Some bumps would really be good yes, specially on those places where the paint has been chipped.
