Mbali reached the border into the Pridelands and was stopped by a couple of lions who were seemingly patrolling the area. Never backing down she showed no fear and stood her ground. A familiar voice popped out behind one of the bigger males, could it be?

"Mbali? Is that you?"

The lioness shook her head.

"I can't believe it! Guys! This is Mbali, she is from my old pride," Duka began to get excited.

"Listen, I-"

"Did anyone else from the pride join you? Why do you have scars on your neck? And-" He looked down to paws and saw a little lion peeking out between Mbali's legs, "You have a cub now?"

"Duka, I have been searching for you," she said with a serious tone, "Something... bad happened."

Worry took over his face, "What happened?"

"The crocs attacked again but this time there were more of them than I'd ever seen before. They were led by a lion who is now our leader."

"Is everyone ok?"

"Not everyone," Mbali took a big sigh, "much of the pride were killed and the ones who weren't didn't want to leave because the Swamp is their home."

"D-did... Um..."

She gave him a sympathetic look with tears in her eyes, "Chichi didn't make it."

"No, how could this happen! Why?"

"There's more," she caught his attention, "A couple months after you left, Chichi had a cub,"

His eyes darted towards the young one below her, "You mean-"

"She sacrificed her life to save your daughter so I thought it was only right for me to bring her to you," Mbali lifted her paw, "Duka, this is Chipo,"
