Description Copper Japanese Maple Bonsai
39"wide x 26"tall x 21.5" deep 50 lbs

Bonsai tree constructed from 6000+ feet of copper coated steel, 24 running feet of 36 gauge copper tooling foil. 300+ hand cut and patinated Japanese Maple leaves. The tree is hand tied to the stone, no welding or glue of any kind was involved, tension alone holds the tree to the stone and the leaves to the branches.

I've seen metal bonsais, but nothing even comes close to comparable to this. Just wow. I absolutely love the patinated copper leaves, amazing!

It shows in your craftsmanship. You can tell you expertly wove the 'roots' to attach the tree to the stone, and the bends in the leaves are executed very well.

Everything about this one is just brilliant. The choice and shape of the rock starts the flow of motion. The twisted trunk, all of the wonderful leaves leading up to that great cascade back down to the ground. Just wonderful stuff.

Very fantastic work! Β I like the dynamic pose of the tree, the scale, and that beautiful rock you attached it too. Β Also, I love how you made the leaves. Β That is interesting and different from what I usually see. Β And pleasing to the eye!

I never learned to weld, so the trees took on a life of their own when I had to create a different way to connect everything. Hand winding the steel gives them a very natural look. Β It also helps that I find manipulating copper sheet such a rewarding challenge.Β

I like the shape and how it looks like it could tip over at any moment.

I build most of them as a counter balance to the stone. Each would collapse without the other. I am so pleased you noticed how precarious it looks. Thanks.Β
