When I looked at the tracked time for this piece I thought it was a mistake. I actually went back to my backups and made sure. At 27.5 hours this artwork took a long time, but not as long as I thought. The time was invested over about 20 days. In that window I also experimented with some more high risk ideas on another piece ("Death").

Regardless of time, I am happy with the results. I experimented with modifying several steps in my process, and this sometimes required doing things twice. Throughout this experimentation, I took notes on what worked an what did not. (I believe writing and thinking are one and the same). I am starting to get a better idea of what choices limit my creative freedom. I am also learning how to move around the Canvas. I often get stuck on a single minute aspect of the drawing or painting, making changes that do not improve the piece as a whole.

My largest complaint is my perceived over-reliance on references. I want to be able to invent and construct, not just translate. Something new. I am working on my "sketch" phase also continuing to search for ways I can trim down and streamline the rest of the process while continuing to increase quality.
