A Prince for a Princess

Once upon a time, there were two old kings whose kingdoms had an extensive and deep-rooted rivalry. King Richard, who ruled the rolling hills of Arcavar, had a beautiful daughter named Evelyn. King Douglas of Castalon had a handsome son named Christopher.

Princess Evelyn was gifted with grace, patience, and beauty. Therefore, her hand in marriage was much desired in the country of Arcavar. Although this pleased her father, Evelyn dreamed only of true love. When King Richard told Evelyn that she was betrothed to the duke’s son, whom she had never met, Evelyn was distraught. The wedding was in two months, and Evelyn tried in every way to change her stubborn father’s mind.

Meanwhile, Prince Christopher had also learned that he would marry a noblewoman within one year. He, too, was displeased at the situation. Christopher spent much time practicing his archery alone, thinking about the upcoming event. There were hundreds more women in Castalon surely more lovely and understanding than his fiancée…

One day, the two kings were informed that the king of Galeidia, a neighboring kingdom, had died without an heir. Naturally, both kings believed their child was most capable of ruling that country. Arcavar and Castalon were on the verge of war when invitations for a masquerade ball were sent out from the king-less country.

“Father! Father! We just received an invitation to a masked ball! May I please go?” exclaimed Evelyn, bursting into her father’s study. King Richard glanced over his shoulder, unconcerned.
“Listen, Evelyn, we have wedding arrangements to finalize, you have your dress fitting, and I’m trying to arrange for you to be the queen of Galeidia. It’s just too hectic right now!” replied the old king, turning back to his work. He let out a long sigh to emphasize his point.
“I can bring my fiancé, if you’d like. And it’s hosted by Galeidia, by the way.” Evelyn frowned. It had been so long since she had had some time to relax, with the wedding and all. The king turned around, suddenly interested.
“It is, is it? Well, it would be foolish not to go. We have to show you two off to the kingdom, now don’t we?” the old king mused. He had clearly missed the point; Evelyn hadn’t wanted to go to gain favor with the kingdom- she just wanted to go for fun. Nevertheless, she gave her father a quick kiss on the cheek and went to get ready.

Christopher had also received the invitation. After discussing the event with his father, he and his fiancée went to get ready too.

At the ball, Christopher quickly got bored of dancing with his boisterous fiancée. He slipped away from the activity for a moment. Then, a beautiful brunette caught his eye. Although she wore a mask, he could see her sparkling blue eyes. She looked shyly over her shoulder at him, and he knew immediately that this was the rarest yet most true love there is. Little did he know that she was the daughter of his father’s rival. He approached her and asked her to dance.

Everyone at the ball stared in wonder as Evelyn and Christopher waltzed around the floor. “Who is that girl?” everyone wondered. The two moved in complete synchronization, matching each other step for step. A few hours later in the gardens, Christopher gently lifted off Evelyn’s mask.
“Princess Evelyn?”
“Prince Christopher?”
“Well, I have to say you’re an amazing dancer,” grinned Christopher.
“Thank you. You are too,” replied Evelyn, falling instantly in love.

Evelyn and Christopher spent the remainder of the night talking about their upcoming marriages and their fathers’ rivalry, hoping they could do something about it.
The next day, Christopher admitted that he did not truly love the noblewoman he was to marry; he loved Evelyn. King Douglas was incredulous, but Christopher did not back down.

Evelyn, too, told her father how she felt about Christopher. King Richard couldn’t believe the situation either, yet Evelyn knew where her heart lay.

A few months later, the original wedding plans were cancelled, and Christopher proposed to Evelyn. Christopher and Evelyn were soon after crowned as the new king and queen of Galeidia, and they lived happily ever after.

Impressive. You really know how to use this program; just added this to my favorites list. You know something? I think this story has potential. I'm a writer & blogger & I think this could be turned into a novel if you believed it could. I have a vision...would you care to hear about it? I see great possibilities with this story.

Excellent!

Now, I believe that each character you've created & mentioned has potential to be developed further. You obviously have a vision for Princess Evelyn; well, I would like to know how you envision Prince Christopher. When a good picture is formed, I'll see if I can use an Azalea's Dolls program to draw up a sketch for him. After that, give me a few days & I might have something for you to look at.

This story synopsis you've included is like a sketch of words, a concept outline. I'm sure that a LOT can be used to give this story strength & charm. Since it was your idea 1st of all, I will go over the potential backstory & history with you. Look for a note from me within the next few days; I think we can discuss even more about this in private. Good Luck to you!

I'm so sorry I forgot to say that the first dress is just Evelyn's regular attire, the second dress is the one she wore at the masked ball (with the mask ) and the third dress is her wedding dress. Enjoy!
