Here's the rest! We were only required to draw Ichabod for class, but I drew some more of the characters because I just like to know what everybody looks like.My teacher's critique about pushing the designs one step further was REALLY helpful with Katrina. I'm sure you know I don't really do a whole lot of stylization or exaggeration in my characters, but now I've learned I can do it if I just stick with it for a couple extra steps. That's right! I learned something!! School is great.

From a distance, the Little Bow Peep like character looks like Disney's Rapunzel... obviously not the case close up, however. Still, the rendering on the left does bear some means of resemblance.

Haha that's okay, I'm used to my name getting misspelled every which way.
I'd say take the class if you have room for it! It doesn't require massive amounts of work outside class if you're taking it as extra either. Just be aware that it's not about seeing how creative you can be with character design, but how well you can design within guidelines. Which is good practice for animation in the real world anyway.
And like I said, it's helping me start to get out of my realistic/Disneyish rut. Which is good!!!

I really like how they look! It reminds me of Belle (I think that's her name) from Beauty and the Beast and the guy (Gustov?) only she's cuter and he's less weird.

Gaston! I was actually very consciously trying not to make him too Gaston-like as I drew, because they're really basically the same character. So I tried to make mine a little more simple and cartoony.

Well, what really helped (forced) me to get it was somebody looking at it and saying, "nope, too realistic. Pump it up another notch."
In all seriousness, what really gave me an aha! moment was when my teacher told us to make our drawings "er." If your character is skinny, make him skinnier. Since Katrina is supposed to be "plump as a partridge", I made her plumper, bustier, and made her tiny waist, hands and feet even tinier. Then I took all the fussy little details in my first sketches, like all the bows and frills and strands of hair, and got rid of them.
