Description
one of my favorite things about when it rains is how absolutely green and saturated everything looks against the grayness of the sky. I started this during one rainy day months ago and finished it during this one.what a perfect day for doing nothing but reading!!!

I know exactly what you mean! It doesn't rain very often here, but I like it when it does because everything feels so much greener.

I really hate to say it, the repeating texture really stands out to me and detracts my eye from the image. I just keep getting lost in the pattern and unfortunately not in a good way. The pattern is too regular and too geometric to work well IMO.
I'd love to see a non-textured version. Or... even better would be for you to paint it with a textured paintbrush in photoshop. I recently took a workshop at my school in digital painting and learned some spiffy techniques for that. (I'm no expert by any means) And there's tons of brushes for photoshop available in the resources on DA.
I like using the direction option for the angle of the stroke, so when I fill in, the stroke angle follows the direction of the stroke I make with the wacom tablet pen. That way you won't get any texture stuff that goes over the lines and makes it stand out as something that seems to be on a separate layer and you still get that texture look you want that makes an image interesting.
Hope that helps and I've not overstepped my bounds here... as I don't want to hurt any body's feelings, especially yours

Thanks! I wasn't sure about the pattern, but I went ahead and tried it out because I've been trying to use more interesting compositions than simple characters and backgrounds. But I definitely see your point, and I think it would help me to vary the opacity a little bit more.
Oh, and be sure not to worry about overstepping any bounds, because I really appreciate it when somebody takes the time to give me meaningful critique!

It's actually mostly ink and watercolor, but I think I glopped enough digital gunk on it to put it into that category.
