Oh, an empty chest and spare clothes that make a great disguise. Lucky you, Mortesen! One of these days I'm expecting him to think he's officially going crazy and start yelling at his Inner Voice.
Interesting... So Darren was able to analyze the bullets well enough to replicate them. Good thing too since they know this weapon is both scary and a serious threat.
LOL! I was a little curious about why Victoria had difficulty looking at Anna after she wrote that book. I guess that explains that. I can't help wondering if Mortesen's relationship with her was before or after Athena died, though...
Wow, that was one bloody fight! Lucky thing he's a good fighter, and he's finally starting to put things together and figure out this is an entirely different world. So if Kaze is 15 here, how much younger is he in the other world?
Mortesen is having a meltdown, but it isn't entirely clear why. If Victoria is alive, then shouldn't he be happy? And even if Kaze is somehow older, that doesn't mean he failed.

Well yeah, Darren and Kaze are both old enough to know what is and what is not a dangerous weapon. They've been raised to see such from both sides. Yes it's scary, but it's also a massive leap in technology. And why wouldn't there be more than one "karok" style clothing in his old lair. Sure, if Mortesen had 'heard' that Victoria had died sure he would be jumping for joy, but it's different when you actually see you're friend die in front of you. And why wouldn't Mortesen have a small meltdown? He just sees two figures, his dead friend and a son he had not seen in three to four years. You could also say that "Inner Voice" could be having the same emotions as Mortesen would have if he showed them. Which, when you put two and two together, you get the meltdown that is desired. And the thing that happens with Mortesen and Victoria happens long after Athena passes. About two years into the war. But it really was a one night stand sort of thing.

Hmm, good point. To see someone you KNOW is dead walking around has got to be a shock. But to mentally wrestle with himself about having failed just because he saw his son is much older than he remembers doesn't quite make sense to me. Is he possibly thinking the lack of competent technology everywhere he looks is somehow his fault? Even that line of reasoning is a bit odd.

What I mean by fail is that he failed to come home. Think about it like this, a soldier goes missing for years, and when he finally makes it back home he finds his children all grown up. Then as it turns out, he got lost all due to a stupid mistake. Like Mortesen taking out the crystal in the first place.

“ Welp, I hope they don’t mind me, I mean, I’m not some king coming to say “hi”.”
Well... a dead king in your case Mortesen Lol. The fight scene between him and the bandits is cool btw. But seriously Mortesen, you could asked them some questions before you kill them. There are a lot of things you need to know. A LOT
