Description
Chewie is a walking heartbreak. He was a bobcat in his former life, transformed into an esk after contracting rabies while defending his family. He retained all of his memories of his past life, and the transition was so seamless that he didn't truly realize things were different until first his mate, then his cubs, grew older and died. This broke him, and he now rarely leaves his Lake. His thoughts are almost always turned inward, focusing on his past life, on the family that he loved and lost. One day while out in the forest, he came across a human family that was hiking through his boundary. The scene caused him to stop in his tracks and filled him with an emotion that he could not understand fully. His glowing eyes flared brightly and started to sting from held back emotion. He was drawn to this family, and from then on, to every family he came across. Whether it be animal or human, he is attracted to the familial bond they share. He discovered his purpose that day in the deep forest: to keep families together, both in life, and afterwards.

Deciding to only ever transform a family as a unit, this side of his purpose is a heavy toll on his magical energy. He views the cost to be worth it though, and continues in this path. The other side of this though, keeping families together in death, is more macabre. If an accident befalls a member of a family in his reach, and they die, he... reunites them all in death. He views this as a generosity of spirit on his part.

Although his way of thinking is warped and twisted, his life motto is not. Throughout all of his days, deep in the dark, murky lake, one thought resonates inside his mind: Family is everything.
