I'm not sure how to feel about this episode. I love The Doctor and I felt sad for John and for Martha, poor girl, first was Rose and then Joan.

Aww, poor John Smith. I still feel bad for him.
The 10th Doctor always seemed to be the most... human; I think. Not that it makes him any better than the other Doctors. Although, personally, he is my favorite. You never forget your first Doctor!

It's an interesting development in the new series - that the Doctor seems to be wishing for a "normal life". Maybe that's because it's post-Time War?? (Or the producers are trying to make him more relate-able to newer audiences...)

I guess - at least for me - I wouldn't want to see the Doctor settle down with anyone. (Even Rose.) He needs to travel the universe! That's why the basic idea of him being married to River scares me. But I think Moffat is handling it pretty well.

I don't want the doctor to settle down either. But his wish for a different life makes him very 'human'. I think the important part is the connection to another being, I mean he lost everything in the war, and we learn in human nature that Joan lost her husband in a war... I think the doctor is drawn to her because she knows what loss feels like.
And for River! I really like her character but the whole marriage thing is bothering me a bit, too. I can't quite tell you a reason though. I think we need to see how it plays out.

Oh yeah. I like River as a character for sure! Though the wedding scene seemed out of character for her. It was like she seemed weaker to me - and she is usually so strong & independent. But I know they meet in different orders, so it's hard to know where she is coming from when we are seeing it from the Doctor's POV.

I think as long as Moffat keeps the TARDIS baby free, we should be okay.

Oh gosh! My brain is playing tricks on me, the first time I read your last sentence I was like, why not little TARDIS badies... Little blue police boxes travelling after their mummy!
Need coffee!
But I agree with you on the wedding. It seemed out of character.

LOL. Baby TARDISES (TARDI?) Yes!

During the whole wedding scene I kept thinking "No. No. No. After 900+ years as a bachelor the Doctor cannot be getting married! Especially with that hairdo!"
