You should totally build under a lake or something, then if this happens, bust the roof and flood it.
Then drain it using an elaborate system, ready for re-settlement.
And I have no idea of you could do this, not having played it.

I make a point to wear boots when playing with fire for the specific purpose of stomping the fire out if the bucket of water fails to put the flames out.

I did this the other day with a fireplace... And then after I rebuilt some 'tard set the forest next to my wood cabin on fire. <<
The third time I built it out of Wooden Half Blocks, which currently count as stone right now and do not burn. You cannot set the place on fire if you tried now.
