THE GATHERING OF VICTIMS AND SCALY CULTISTS

A former holy place and a dead human settlement, is now turned into a Drakonic trap: pheromone scenting and hiding of eggs.

Locals at the outpost of Agios Petros, Neasparti-Amatsa District, notice that in the past few weeks, not one visitor from Agios Petros was visiting Neasparti for a simple market exchange at its core. This new settlement, founded by three priests, with the Equalist idea like many of the settlers of Neasparti, hence its name for Spartacus and Spartacism, the perverted ideologues that now run the so-called Roman Spartan Republic, was a new one, only being formed in 747, had all become quiet in five years.

Instead, what they have found is a settlement trying to become self-sufficient and being attached to a single church, one built by Euphemios. The houses and shelters are quiet on the day of Sunday, instead, they all are gathering for their leader, a leader that seems to be uniting some of the Drakons living in Neasparti and the rest of Frankonia under one cause.

While other churches that were erected have rotted, this one monastery, formerly consecrated as the Central Frankonian Monastery of Saint Peter came to be the gathering of all the residents of Agios Petros. Local eyewitnesses, as well as a few appointed native Drakons from the Frankonian-led Ministry of Frankonian Drakons, claim that the meeting was of baptising the people of Agios Petros after an incident that turned most residents into Drakons themselves.

What caused the drakonification of human subjects, seemed to be a violent confrontation between the settlers and the cultists. The evidence of violence showed remnants of stains, cleaned by Drakons. The human bodies were disposed once they have "turned" and burned in a pit together, as shown with the recently filled patch of earth with skulls.

The doors of those houses, like a typical Frankonian home, are enough to fit a Drakon in, for they are usually not that tall, but they have also been appearing to be reworking on those shelters to be oriented with their "new lifestyle" that Drakons are supposed to behave. Family houses are converted into a dormitory, to house a den of a sufficient size. Not a trace of human instinct remains on the transformed.

The various Drakons that have joined the service on Sunday, seemed to be undergoing their ritual process. The priest was present, holding up a printed book. It was barely visible, but it was printed like an ordinary mass marketed publication. It was not handbound and written organically. Somehow, the book had been mass produced and distributed, like a revised Bible. Indeed, this Priest also recites verses and statements from the Holy Bible too, as if it was also an equal footing as the blasphemous piece.

Inside the books contents, of which the insders were given a free copy, were various illustrations and manuscripts, from what appeared to be talented humans, who had already turned into Drakons, using their claw and the blood of the deceased human husks to handcraft and scratch on parchments of leather and paper to be reproduced by machine.

They had also seemed to have written a script too, derivative of the Greek script, adapting that of the strange writings that are also found on the equipment and arcane automobiles run by the Archonese. Whatever they supposed to mean, it was an abridged, adapted version of the Roman people's tongue, to fit in their Drakonic syllables. They also wanted to embrace such change at a quick pace.

There, the "priest" or the leader of this church identifies himself as Bartus Polituris before reciting his prayers. He pronounces this group or church as they call their religious group, as the Drakonic Ascendance Church. This group had been spreading like a wildfire. While the Frankonian government had been cracking on its two major opponents of civil rights activists and human populists and appeasing them, the Drakons and a subsection of drakonified Frankonian subjects, seemed to have the delusion of accelerate this drakonification process upon all of mankind, with Frankonia being the first.

According to the information available, Bartus Polituris was the son of the late commander and Cassandrian loyalist, Nikephoros Polituris, who had died as of this publication. His family, like the immediate family of Cassandra and her own allies, fled to Himyar after the infamous abdication of Cassandra, where she would eventually found the modern kingdom of Frankonia. Bartus had personally moved from 744 and had initially been interested in the intricacies and information of Drakons themselves and had disappeared in 748. It is currently unknown whether this same Drakon is indeed the missing Bartus, but we can only hope he isn't.

The fact that it is called the Drakonic Ascendance Church does bring up the possibility that it could be peddled by the Archonese, to further undermine the stability of Frankonia. The hanging scales of Frankonia's stability are already in doubt and on a slippery slope. However, this priest-Drakon had spoken out against the filth of the Archonese instead, pointing to humanity as the reason for Frankonia's reason to be weak and vulnerable against an ultimate evil.

By apparently becoming a Drakon and embracing the full nature of their enemy, they can fight and rally other Drakons, whether be captured or turned forcibly from man in Archon or the natives, who they share the common blood as their enemy, without causing unrest and distress that is brought upon humans currently while interacting with Drakons.

This "church", whatever its purpose was, serves nothing but to feed division to an already divided Frankonia. Frankonia is already being torn apart by activists and populists alike. The fact that there's now a third faction to deal with, is to put it bluntly, making the situation for the Frankonians, more difficult to traverse and concentrate on the Second Erythraean War.

As of estimates released by the Cato Society for the end of 751, approximately 7% of Frankonia's population were Drakons themselves, an increase by 3.5%. We may be headed to a Drakonic future and the Frankonian monarchy may be in full doubt.

RECORDING OF THE BAPTISM OF NEWCOMERS IN AGIOS PETROS.

Sunday, 2nd March 752

-----

[Note: This, embedded by a Frankonian government agent and a Drakon, shows the extent of the prayers given by its leader and call to action of turning mankind into Drakons before calling for new converts, many of them drakonified inadvertently and were found, to "baptise" in water to "wash their humanity away".]

[The scene unfolds with a gathering of no more than 120 Drakons in the same church, converted into a temple for the purpose of gathering in a large group. Despite the size of the building, it was quite compact for the number of Drakons. Pews are absent due to logistical issues and are replaced with a large rug that stretches the building to the back. The agent is embedded at the far back as to not give it attention, but the cramped setting doesn't help that a lot of Drakons, presumably to make the crowd controllable by not making it easy to escape.]

[Bartus enters the front door of the church and stands on the altar, stretched for a quadruped with a copy of a large printed book, presumably of a religious theme but definitely not the Bible. The Drakons there, stand and tremble in fear, awe and curiosity with the robed Drakon. Though the footage is primarily taken in black-and-white, his mask, merely an accessory to cover the muzzle with intimidating features to it. These Drakons stayed silent, fearing retribution among a few others, who seemed to be confident and already following this male Drakon.]

BARTUS POLITURIS (BP): [in Greek, with drakonisms like snarls and rattles in speech as always with many Drakons speaking human languages] For all of you who have been here and are confused as to why you have turned, to have experienced Manaism and lost your human body, I know it is quite a bad experience. I have gone through this process. But once you are aware of what benefit being a Drakon is... you'll feel fine. It's that you're wired differently now than when you're a human.

[Indescribable and animalistic voices from the Drakons behind Bartus are heard, arguments come back and forth among the many Agios Petros residents that have turned, some are angry at the violence inflcited on them, even though the trauma that they experienced as a human, presumably during an earlier confrontation with some of the cultists of the Drakonic Ascendancy Church.]

BP: [Slams at the altar with a book on his right "arm" or upper leg] Silence!

[Drakons fall silent in the background.]

BP: You have survived the process of surviving three weeks and getting used to it. Some didn't make it, but the rest of you... you all survived, despite the odds. Perhaps they really like sinning as a human after all, to remain perverted and regressive and do not accept their new, alternative, drakonic form as "righteous". For them...

[Bartus opens the book to a random page on the manuscript and flipping through his dexterous "hands" on his upper legs, not yet actively reading the contents, though appears aware of what he might be reading.]

BP: It is their choice. They want to die as a human while being blessed in their new drakonic form, so be it. But it is time that this church, the Central Frankonian Monastery of Saint Peter, to no longer be a Christian church but of a Drakonic church. You may have seen some of us around, monitoring your ways, to get you into the spirit and instincts of a Drakon. They aren't human. To you, it may sound and feel foreign to be in another body that just spontaneously appears with your own mind, intact.

[A snarl of a Drakon can be heard close to the camera, which at that point, had started to become customary for sound to also be recorded on film in the 750s/760s.]

BP: You realise that you can't eat any more bread in breakfast without having to throw up. Flour to you is indigestible and that you have a stronger urge to eat more meat to sustain yourself. Even your voice has changed. You don't speak like a human anymore, but you try to speak like one, even speaking your own mother tongue. Thankfully, the Drakonic voice is quite harmonic, if you speak the enemy's language. Their names can be melodic, never guttural like our own names that we're brought up as human. But, we are fighting the enemy. Not to the Frankonian government, but to Archon.

[Bartus points around the entire building, scenting the phermones of every Drakon that they are emitting passively and refining his search, which are essentially basic identifiers of their own physical identity and mood.]

BP: This is why you are the chosen people of God. The higher powers have finally admitted us to ascend to being Drakons, our very enemy. You may have lost your body, but you have regained your limbs, you have lost regressive mental traumas and fears that you had as a human. You can even live longer and bond with your friends better than a normal human family would! This church shall be the place where your eggs are laid. This church is also a hatchery. But it must be dug deep once we convert you to our faith, a faith that binds all of Drakonkind of Frankonia together. The humans fear us and their fear of change will indeed bring tough times for our people in a struggle against the enemy.

[The "priest" points at one Drakon, with a headcrest loosely resembling that of a flying czenlon who stands up on her four legs, bravely.]

BP: You! You're a female, no? Name yourself!

VALENTINA (V): It's Valentina-

BP: Valentina, have you... or your den have any eggs that you can bring here?

V: Den?

BP: Your new family.

V: Right! Right. I think I have laid an egg somewhere-

BP: Good! We've already gotten the first few hatchlings- or babies within the congregation. These eggs, no matter your detachment from them, are the lifeblood of our people, the future generation lays upon the abundance of those eggs being laid in a safe place, where no foe can touch it. Once it is out of the body, it takes a life of its own, provided that it is given warmth and love from all of you. Now, Valentina, you can sit down.

[The headcrested Drakon becomes submissive and lays below with the crowd, who began murmuring about eggs that some of them have laid eggs, before going quiet by the slam of Bartus at the altar.]

[Bartus reads and recites a passage from the Drakonic Ascendancy Church's own manuscripts, which seemed to purport a prophecy about an impending doom for humanity in Frankonia and the rest of the world. This portion is truncated for brevity.]

BP: As you can see, the people of Frankonia, who turn to being Drakons, like all of you, must be baptised in holy water to cleansed of the primordial sin that you inherit as a human. The original sin of man is there, according to the Book of Genesis. When both Adam and Eve ate the forbidden apple, they brought all of humanity to sin from their start of being brithed into the world. We, Drakons, are immune to this sinning as we are no longer physically descendants of the two original sinners. Not only does it physically rejuvenate you, your own soul, the "mana", is also spiritually rejuvenated. We are meant to be created in the image of God, but the physical form that He created is imperfect, destroyed by the Serpent itself. Hence, God had given us the enemy's form, the Drakon, to us, Frankonians, as a second chance for us to be redeemed.

[The agent raises his hand-paw.]

BP: Yes? You seemed to look like a native and not one of us, but I'll take any queries.

FRANKONIAN AGENT (FA): [in Greek, albeit not fluent.] Uh, [rattles deeply in the throat] does the baptism apply to non-turned Drakons too?

BP: This is a faith for all of Drakonkind. Everyone is welcome, including you.

FA: Isn't-

[Bartus slams the altar again and closes the book and every other Drakon in the room looks above him.]

BP: Now! We will bring blessed waters outside soon, perhaps to the river. I ask all of you to immerse yourselves in the water and don't panic. Once you are out of the water for a few seconds, all your human identity will be washed away- and a new one will be born from within, a fierce, Drakonic spirit.

[END LOG.]

So I have finally done what I wanted to do for the next episode and started writing the story, giving out teasers for what the next episode will entail. I already gave out some spoilers, but it definitely would see something drastic occur.

Apologies for taking so long- if you haven't read it in my posts. Chimeric Chronicles was the major reason for my absence for the past two months, laying out the world map, regions and history. Alongside that, I also have other priorities, including university (which will be my last year), so I didn't have the sufficient time to just invest on that.

This one, was one of the largest undertakings by me. For reference and with a comparable piece, the Ghoul Pile piece took me 19 hours. For this one, since it is also fully. I may post a process thing of how I do things with more high-effort projects right here, this time for more "rendered" lineless stuff, which I do sometimes, though much of my focus (especially Chimeric Chronicles) was on creating an outline style and becoming fluent on that. But otherwise, it would be similar to the one I posted for the Ghoul Pile one.

I drew a lot of basic dragon character references (all of them being humanoid though), at least the outlines and shapes while I wasn't working on Chimeric Chronicles or the Dragons of Narica series. They are quite easy to transfer from anthro to feral once a basic rough physical look on their head is complete to complete.

The proper CYOH episode will be released after I finish writing the next art piece that's laying there for a while now. Just not immediately, but after I get through this one, of course. Expect the next few episodes of the CYOH to slow down dramatically to adjust my wavering interest... Just enough for say, OldPanda to favourite the episode weekly after catching up.

And remember: Always read the Frankonian Journal at the bottom right. It gives you a lot of clues into my thought process.
