Description This drawing is very old. Characters in this one are 有栖川 樹璃 ,Arisugawa Juri and 高槻 枝織 , Takatsuki Shiori. I was a fan of Shoujo Kakumei Utena but didn't feel much for GL at all. My fave character back then was 篠原 若葉 , Shinohara Wakaba.

you'll get to it when you get to it. Keep up the great work -- drawing, harp-playing, or otherwise. Toss me a note if you feel like it.

(Wish I could do pencil work like this. I have a tray of new prismacolors but have barely touched them)

Ah, you're welcome. I'm glad Wakaba has another fan. While she's not my fave, I do appreciate how very -normal- she is in the context of the show; she even looks normal, if pretty. Her story is not so terribly far from Shiori's; she also needs someone else, something else, in order to "shine." She just isn't as sadistically manipulative as Shiori.

Currently I'm most intrigued with Ruka and Juri. They are not my fave pairing, but they are fascinating. Juri's subplot is very moving, and I'm stuck on whether Ruka is a hero or a villain. I suppose that's the beauty of RGU: nobody is easily categorized.

Keep up with the piano practice! To this day, despite seven years of lessons that didn't go down well, I am not a great pianist. But the few pieces I outright memorized? I play 'em well. so it's not impossible!

Wakaba might be the most down-to-earth character. She is a good friend, loving and cheering, not so much drama, yet the black rose turns the purest form of love into envy and wrath. Juri is a very interesting character I'd say. It's not hard to find find sympathy and sadness behind her coldness. She is good at hiding her true feelings in front of others but she is never good at hiding it from herself. I still remember the pendant in shape of a photo locket she carries with her all the time, although the whole story is a little fuzzy to me since last time I reviewed the anime was for over 5 years ago. I guess maybe it's time for me to refresh my memory about Jury, especially Ruka.

I don't really have a piano...I wish my family could afford that piano when I was 4...but I do have a 22 string harp now! Hehe...it is not big but I am able to play some simple songs with both hands.

Oooh, harp. Very cool. Now I wonder what Sunlit Garden might sound like with a harp rendition.

Re: Juri -- Her whole subplot is prettymuch covered with four episodes, which is a little over an hour of viewing if you cut out the opening and closing credits, and the hugely long stairway-walk-to-dueling-arena scenes. If you go to an anime viewing site such as anilinkz or gogoanime, they are episodes 7 (first duel), 17 (black rose arc), 28 and 29 (Ruka's intro).

I guarantee you'll want to do more fanart if you watch them

Sorry about replying late. I am trying hard to catch my breath while working 24/7. I haven't had the time for practicing harp at all. Really want to spend a day on drawings or things that help me to relax...I was about to review the episodes but was soon occupied by documents...Will absolutely pick them again when sun shines again through the gloomy clouds.

Have a great weekend!

Wow, fantastic. For all the brightness of the colors here, Shiori manages to be downright frightening. How curious and sadly ironic, that she's got this sweet voice and is a dainty femme by compare, while Juri has all this confidence and power except where it matters most...

I appreciate your kind comment! I like the story abt Juri and Shiori although my all time fav is actually Wakaba. I find most of the characters in SK Utena quite unique, both the personalities and background stories. Still dream to play Sunlit Garden flawlessly one day on piano, not likely to happen though...

The lines of the characters are already very good, only the colouring looks a little sloppy. But considering it is an old pic, it is pretty fine!

Thanks Stayka! I agree with you. It is still easier to use color pencils than Photoshop since I have never tried it out completely.

Well, colour pencils are definitely faster for characters, but they are a pain for creating backgrounds. XD

A lot of my old artworks with colour pencils and aquarelle suffer from the fact that I got too lazy to add a background with them.

I'm not using Photoshop myself - all of my computer colorated pics were done with the GIMP, a free Open Source graphics program that I love dearly.

To create a good background, it takes more hours and patience than using photoshop. Aquarelle colors are solid and gorgeous and I still feel like using PS is kind cheating since really art don't allow "redo". An artist must be certain when the coloring process is on. Well, maybe it is meaningless to compare one to the other, as for me, an amateur artist, both of them are difficult enough for me to handle.

Well, I have to admit I never really liked computer colouring in the beginning. I mainly turned to it for practical reasons - I work at home and I need my desk free for it, so I can't draw with pencils or aquarelle paints anymore as it would take too much time to put everything away when I get a customer. With the computer I only need to put the graphic tablet away and close the GIMP hich is done in a second.

Honestly,I am experience the opposite...I am not good at keep things tidy in my room partly because my clothes are everywhere and they blocked my seat in front of the PC I use to draw with. Since I never use the dining table to anything else it is now occupied and cover by papers and pencils...I don't enjoy painting because I am never quick enough before the colors dry out completely. Anyways, it is time to get started with PS at least for me. People are complaining that they have seen enough black & white in my gallery.

Well, for my pictures I definitely prefer colours, which is why I started to colours with the computer. ^^

So maybe one day you will find that you like that way of colouring, too?

Yep, I guess I will make it after all as long as I keep trying. There are too many tricks to learn about coloring in PS and I guess I will figure out the easiest yet an elegant way to do it.

Well, I did everything via trial and error with the GIMP. XD

Thank you! I have been wondering if my old drawings really seem better than the new ones...maybe my skill has been going backwards caused by too many break in between during the last 8 years.
