She was always prepared for the role of leader's wife as she was a first daughter of an advisor of the Hanotsu leader. Since she was a child, she's been told to always obey and love her future husband no matter what happens, to be proud she can marry the leader and bare his children. Kotone was a very kind girl, who was always smiling, we could say she was popular within the clan. When she was 18, she married a future head of Hanotsu clan - Sousuke Hanotsu - proud and fierce but handsome and loving man she knew only from a distance. After their marriage they immediately fell in love. Their first child was named Keitarou. He resembled his father almost in everything but was kind like his mother - "a born leader" they heard from all around. After some time, Kotone got pregnant again and gave birth to a beautiful girl; Kotone named her Netsumi. She received many congratulations but also one betrayal...

Few days after Netsumi was born, she was told her husband cheated on her with some Junketsu woman. Kotone's world fell apart. It felt like a dagger stabbed in her back. She was humiliated. She was betrayed by the love of her life. Or was it a love? Sousuke apologized, but his apologize was not enough. Kotone wanted that Junketsu woman gone, far away from her family she's just destroyed. Hanotsu and Juketsu clans made a secret deal: She had to leave the village and Hanotsu paid for it, so it could be kept secret. Kotone was on the meeting too, so she could know what happens to her. She noticed Sousuke's mourning face while he talked about that woman being exiled.

"So he loved her" Kotone thought. "Did he love her more than me and his children? Am I not enough..?"

From this day, she never believed him again. She did not believe the world. Her usual smile has gone. She went colder and colder. Only her children could brighten her mood, but she still saw Sousuke's betrayal in them...

A little story about what happened years ago in Hanotsu clan and what happened to Kotone. Little did she know about that woman, carrying Sousuke's child under her heart. That's another story, but Sousuke promised not to leave the village, so Kotone would believe he won't try to find her. Kotone didn't mind at all. She remained married to Sousuke until his death. All this time Sousuke tried to change her mind, but hopelessly.
