“Your circumstances are dire!” I really love Kitana’s Dark Empress look from MKX. It’s probably my favourite look she’s ever had. This was inspired by a photo I saw of Angelina Jolie on horseback riding side-saddle for the Tomb Raider 2 movie. Given Kitana’s royal heritage it seemed fitting that she would ride her demonic steed side-saddle too. I used the old Deadly Alliance design for her steel fans because I still think those looked the best to this day. The vast majority of this was done using Paint Tool Sai using the standard pencil, marker and water brush tools. Then I added some extra lighting effects in Photoshop.
