Description
I recently started a new illustration series called The Women Warriors Project! It's where I draw illustrations of the badass ladies of history and share their stories. Here is the first of the series, Queen Padmini.
Queen Padmini of Chitor (14th century) was a woman warrior in her own right, and is best known for the story behind the rescue of her husband.
Her husband, Rama (or Rawal, depending on the legends), was captured in a skirmish outside of Chitor’s walls by an enemy Muslim commander. The commander sent her a letter saying he would free her husband safely if she would surrender and become his mistress.
In response, she gathered 59 of her best soldiers and led a surprise attack against the commander. She killed him, won the battle, and brought her husband back safely.
To follow the series, check out the Tumblr . All future updates will be over there!
This was drawn in pencil and microns with colors in Photoshop CS2.
