Description I've been commissioned by my best friend to do some Beatrix Potter styled artworks.

Referencing a book, I made up some poses, inked them with brown ink, and watercolored them. Need to do a couple more practices before I do the finals.

Better do a good job, don't wanna screw up the friendship!

Ok, though a certain Mr. F can't give a decent critique, I will. The mice are my favorites, the faces and poses are just about perfect, and the colors in the book balance them nicely. Plus, the line has a really nice feel to it. The guinea pigs are also really nice, the feet are delicate and the line is great. Not sure about the jacket, it stands out more than the mouse's vest. And, it makes the other pigs look all nekkid. But, no half squirrels. All animals need to be at least 3/4 whole.

Overall, this gives the Beatrix Potter look without just being a direct copy. Exactly why I asked you to do the paintings. I don't want people to think I threw $10 prints up on the wall. I want them to glance at it and see it's awesome original watercolors, but still look good with the theme of the nursery.

Ah, thank you for some meaty feedback! Glad to see I'm on track. I have some compositions that I hope to sketch out and play with my light/dark areas. Think I can get away with 5/8 of an animal in frame?

You sure have some screwy friends to put so much pressure on you for a drawing that features a cartoon guinea pig. Nice work, as always. I'm sure the final would look great in a Beautrix Potter themed nursey, for instance.

Thanks, it's fairly easy for me to simulate the look, of course it can't be excatly the same pen/watercolor touch. I'm trying to get over that. Yea for nekkid squirrels!

oooh, I love Beatrix Potter stuff. I love this stuff too, you painted the hair so pretty They are so cute ! Nice colours too, I think, for some reason, that the books and the mice are done the best, detailled, cute, small, pretty colours...
We want more !

(I think the pose of the... squirrel (??) on the left, the one that is just for a part in the drawing odd, it's odd you don't see the whole of it, you know. )

Thank you so much! I think I have it down, I just need to practice my final poses. Glad to hear it is looking decent. The reason you don't see anymore squirrel is the paper ended there. I was mainly messing around, not worrying about composition. Don't worry, I will not hack any squirrels in half in the next piece.

You're welcome.
the paper ended, ofcourse, lol. You'd better not! Squirrels need to be whole to be cute!
