Description Such a tragedy. ;___; You'll be missed, Macho Man.

Also, I think I missed my calling in life. Clearly I was meant to design wrestling outfits in the 80's.

It's odd. I haven't been a wrestling fan very long, not really. But this hit me harder than I thought it would - I think I feel like I missed out on something, back when these stars were in their prime. It also surprised me how many people seemed affected by his death..and yet, laugh at me for watching wrestling.

It surprised me, too, just how many people expressed sadness about Macho Man's death, especially friends of mine on facebook who I wouldn't have pegged for wrestling fans. A lot of them probably grew up watching him on tv with their dads or something.

I think a lot of wrestlers in the 80s and 90s really sank into the public consciousness as the industry grew and changed. I think, right now, the industry is in kind of a lull - I really like what I'm seeing and have definitely enjoyed the fact that I have friends who like it, too.

And I get to hang out with friends to watch it.

It's a sad thing that in my industry, people look at you with more disdain for liking wrestling than they do for watching Jersey Shore or other 'reality' TV.

Especially because so many geeks like it and are just afraid to admit it.

I think that's what it is - wrestling seems less popular now because it's not "cool" to enjoy wrestling like it was in the 80s and 90s. The same amount of people still watch and love it, I think, but not many of them are vocal about it.

And yeah, it's a shame that watching awful shows like 16 and Pregnant is more socially acceptable. :\ Not cool, society, not cool.

And this is why I'm a recluse and a geek.

16 and Pregnant is about horrible things that happen to each other. Wrestling is a soap opera about scantily clad men who talk about their problems with the audience (as a mob-collective stand in for a shrink), yell at each other using creative invective and then solve their problems by throwing each other around in physically improbable ways.

Yeah. I know which one I'm going for...and I'm straight.

(Maybe that's why reality TV is so popular. It's not women and girls who watch those shows...it's the guys who want to watch shows about women who really are that loose and stupid.)

Sorry. Alan is in a verbosely cynical mood.

It actually baffles the hell outta me that so many of my girlfriends on facebook watch and love 16 and Pregnant. I just really don't get it. There was a girl on that show at some point who would, like, beat the crap out of her boyfriend, and the cameras were rolling the whole time. WTF is that?! You know that if it were one of the boyfriends who started beating up his girlfriend in front of the camera, they would've stopped rolling and helped her. Makes me really sick. :\

And yet another reason I loathe reality tv.

I like to think they played "Pomp and Circumstance" as God opened the pearly gates for him.

Kelly, you need to be a graphic designer of exclusively 80s fashion. You're just that tubular.

I didn't know much about Randy, but his death was certainly an untimely tragedy. The world has lost one of its most colorful characters.

It certainly has. I feel so bad for his wife, they'd only been married a year, and she was in the car with him when he had his heart attack. Scary stuff!

And thanks, man. My eyes bled while I colored it, so that must mean I did something right!

Yeah, the older wrestlers from the 80's/early 90's definitely had different experiences than the guys nowadays. I forget who made the comment, maybe Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart, but they made some joke about how most of the wrestlers back in the day used to do drugs and party for fun, now all the new dudes just play video games.

lol. That's pretty likely to be true. These new guys really shine the light on how fake it all is. When my Mom has the ability to predict the outcome of most fights and is correct, I know wrestling is over. I actually haven't watched it (save 15mins last night) since the early 2000's when it was still worth something. Shame how all the good things begin to suck so hard.

Woahhhh! You should give it real shot sometime. It's been very, very good for the last year or so. Especially lately. There are some shining stars among the young wrestlers - Alberto del Rio, Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater, and Dolph Ziggler just to name a few.

Perhaps I will again sometime. I guess that's me getting older. Not wanting to adapt to somethings.
