Here he is in his Season 1 glory. This is Humanized!Optimus Primal in his battle armor that he wears during the first part of the Beast Wars (season one).

In my Beast Wars AU; Cybertron is a planet of animal sapiens; animals from different parts of the animal kingdom other than apes that evolved a humanoid form (I should really draw the different beings and their cultures sometime). Most Cybertronians that join the Maximals or Predacons do so using a code name.

Optimus Primal is the code name for Ethan Pax, an ape-sapien in his early 30s at the start of the Beast Wars. Being that gorillas and humans are both apes, ape-sapiens look similar to humans.

Ethan is from one of the wealthiest, well-known, and influential families on Cybertron. He is descended from the great Optimus Prime; the greatest wartime admiral and general Cybertron ever knew. Being descended from greatness has given Ethan a life of privilege that most only dream of. However, his family's legacy has been as much a burden to him as it is a blessing because he often feels pressured into being the best of the best. He went to the best Basic Education school in Cybertropolis, graduated at the top of his class, was accepted to and graduated from the Maximal Military Training with honors and distinction, fought in the last Great War between Maximals and Predacons, and quickly worked his way up through the ranks to Commander and then Captain. Also, while everyone knows who he is, most are only friends with him because of what his fame can do for them, not because they care about him as a person. Also, his family's fame intimidates others; particularly romantic interests. He has very few true friends and all of his romantic relationships have ended with the other person leaving because they didn't feel worthy of him.

Despite his family's wealth and fame (or rather, because of it) he lives a humble life on Cybertron. He lives alone in a simple apartment in the a middle class neighborhood on the west side of Cybertropolis and takes the mass transit vehicle into Maximal headquarters in Cybertropolis. He grew up with Ricardo Quincy (Rhinox) and Ricardo's wife, Helen "Hippa" and is close friends with them. His sense of humor and loyalty earns him the respect of those under his command while his selfless, moral character often puts him at odds with Maximal Command and those who try to give him special treatment because of his family and fame. When Rhinox and Hippa were enlisted to fight in the last Great War, he insisted on fighting beside them on the battlefield rather than from behind a desk, when he sees a recruit getting bullied and beat up by the other recruits, he steps in and puts a stop to it; even though he knows he'll be reprimanded for it later.

I'm fairly happy with this. Coloring isn't my best but oh well.
