Description ~Bleach Orihime fanart~

Fanart is not my stuff, but it has been a long time I didn't do any of it, so for this one I am coming up with Inoue Orihime from the Bleach series. I loved how it started up, even though later on the series started to diverge too much into endless, brainless, boring and repetitive fighting and that's when I got tired of it. Still it was fun for a while and gets a place in my gallery.

Figure is Madoka and "Bleach" copyright by Weekly Shounen Jump magazine. Hope you like it and thanks for coming by!

The beginning of Naruto is quite fun.
It only goes DBZ-mode later in the series. ^^

Thank you! Art trades are challenging, but fanart is even more because everybody knows how the characters are supposed to look like.

Hooray for busty anime girls! I haven't seen Bleach yet but I recognize Orihime as the famous "Loituma Girl" with her leek spin in Youtube. XD

I think that I'm going to start to sing "Ievan Polkka"

Nice 3D fanart. XD

I liked that show at first, but by the time they stopped doing at least partially self-contained stories I quickly lost interest. Probably had to do with the fact that they started making fights take way longer than they needed to. Filler is ok in small doses. But the battle speeches...Oy Vey! Still they're no where near as bad as the ones on DBZ!

I'm actually wanting to do a tongue in cheek poke at anime battles.

This is what I call the "DBZilliation" of Anime, where the shows starts nicely but soon enough falls victim of endless fighting scenes where storyline is no longer required. Most recent examples of "DBZilliation" are Inu Yasha, Bleach and Naruto, where they all had a nicely beginning but ran out of storyline at some point. ^^

Yeah.
It's like while the villain is talking/bragging/whatever, you have time to take a nap, eat a sandwich, then shoot him in the head before he's even halfway done talking!

Or when someone gets hurt, everybody else has to wait half an episode so there is plenty of time to talk about life. Or when there are 20 people watching the fight, we have to listen to what *every* one has to think about it - even if it's just to say "Naruto!", or "Ohhh" (twenty times).

They need King Raoh's instructional video.
He kills hundreds of people in under a minute, without getting off of his horse!

Actually getting Raoh out of his horse is an accomplishment - only feasible by Kenshirow himself, but not without sacrifice.

I figure eventually there will be a resurgence of older style anime. It's nice to see that Lupin III has stood the test of time.

Hokuto no Ken already had modern remakes with several OAVs, where Raoh and Kenshirow face each other again. Although Raoh is Kenshirow's sempai for whom he has the deepest respect, in the end Raoh is nothing more than a sore looser who never got over his master's final judgment.

Lupin III was originally produced and directed by Studio Ghibli's mastermind Miyasaki Hayao, who is considered one of the greatest producer/directors of modern Japan. As a matter of fact, the infamous Japanese cinematographer Akira Kurosawa listed Miyasaki's masterpiece movie "Tonari no Totoro" as one of the greatest movies of all time, where only 6 movies from his list were actually Japanese. Later on, Miyasaki produced and directed what is considered the greatest of all Lupin III movies, "Castle of Cagliostro", which won countless awards inside and outside Japan.

Although Miyasaki only personally directed the first season and a couple of the movies, Lupin III is not what one could consider your average Anime show.

Well the HnK remakes are alright, but they miss a certain something.
And people who don't even really like anime like Miyasaki's stuff!
I think what makes stuff like Lupin so great is that It has a very international appeal right out of the box! Barely, if any, localization needed! Good mix of characters too. You gotta wonder what crackerjack police academy gave Zenigata his badge!

Zenigata was a legendary detective from Japan's medieval times, so you can say he was based on a real-world character.

Goemon too if I remember right.

ken1171 In reply to SherbertTCat [2009-02-13 06:22:30 +0000 UTC]

Yes, they are all independent famous people from different periods that were put together in a comical way. Goemon was a famous thief samurai from Japan's medieval times, who was eventually caught and executed.

I would love to get my hands on legal versions of the newer Lupin movies. I'm not even sure who has the licensing rights to the franchise anymore

ken1171 In reply to SherbertTCat [2009-02-13 06:35:58 +0000 UTC]

As far as I know, Lupin is a quite old franchising nowadays and I don't know if there is anything new being produced in Japan. There are multiple movies but only about a couple was translated to English. All the rest was never translated as far as I know. Sounds like Lupin is not very popular or even known in America. Chances are that only the TV series (from the 1980s) and a couple of the movies are available in English.

Well, you certainly got her proportions right XD. She looks very accurate too. Only tiiiiny thing that bothers me is the texture on the socks. It looks a little sharp. Something like aliasing or something like that? I don't know. But it's overall a cute piece of fanart of an adorable character~.
