Description ~Elven Magic~

This 1st 2016 work is something I have never tried: video composition with special effects. I am new with SFX, I don't know how to make the grass and smoke to loop with the character. Maybe it could be done with a blur transition at the beginning and end? I will learn with time. Hope you like it and thanks for coming by!

New music track by me! Figure is Dawn, animated in Poser in real-time OpenGL preview mode (not rendered). Music and video players were coded in AS3 using FlashDevelop (free) and the Adobe Flex Framework (free). Final composition and publishng in Flash.

ken1171 In reply to GuaiamuStudio [2016-01-03 03:53:58 +0000 UTC]

I can loop the character animation, but not the special effects. The effects are dynamic, so I have no control over them. That's a bummer.

GuaiamuStudio In reply to ken1171 [2016-01-03 12:36:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh, that must be difficult to do :/
I remember some time ago, a friend told me when she wanted to do something like that, she stopped the effect on the exact frame when it will repeat, it was pretty difficult to do.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to GuaiamuStudio [2016-01-03 19:31:34 +0000 UTC]

These effects are generated dynamically with a particle system, so they never repeat. That's why maybe a blurry transiting might be the only way, though in either cases it won't be seamless.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GuaiamuStudio In reply to ken1171 [2016-01-03 21:58:16 +0000 UTC]

Oh! It's not possible save them and add in the video with another program?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to GuaiamuStudio [2016-01-03 22:27:01 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but how wouldΒ this makeΒ them seamless? I cannot control where the particles go over time. I could revert half the animation, and that would make it seamless, but then the animation would be moving the wrong way.

GuaiamuStudio In reply to ken1171 [2016-01-04 13:12:11 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah.. i forgot that part :/

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to GuaiamuStudio [2016-01-04 17:53:55 +0000 UTC]

Another alternative would be to simply make longer animatons, so that the seam takes longer to show. But the penalty will be much larger file sizes.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GuaiamuStudio In reply to ken1171 [2016-01-06 13:45:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, we have this problem too :/ What program you use to do the effects?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to GuaiamuStudio [2016-01-06 22:44:37 +0000 UTC]

I have used the very old particle illusions, which hasn't been updated for many years now. I wonder if it's dead? The website is still running, but no updates whatsoever.

GuaiamuStudio In reply to ken1171 [2016-01-07 01:13:31 +0000 UTC]

Oh, i saw sometime ago, but i never used it. It's easy of use?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to GuaiamuStudio [2016-01-07 02:10:10 +0000 UTC]

The interface is simple enough, and it includes a large collection of particles. I used to play more with it back in 2009, and it worries me that the current version is still from that time.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GuaiamuStudio In reply to ken1171 [2016-01-08 00:11:28 +0000 UTC]

Oh! It simple adds the particles in the videos? It must be fun to use ^^ I wonder if you can export the particles to another program.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to GuaiamuStudio [2016-01-08 00:29:54 +0000 UTC]

In the last update they added support to importing your own video and apply particle effects on top of it, but we cannot export the particles themselves. Instead, we can composite them asΒ transparent layers in other programs if you prefer. There used to be a plugin to add the particles directly in Abobe After Effects, but I think it will only work with older AE versions, since it has never been updated in years.

GuaiamuStudio In reply to ken1171 [2016-01-08 13:44:29 +0000 UTC]

Oh, i understand, i already did some tutorials of how create effects on After but some are soooo hard ><
I think if we could extract the particles it will be a lot of help ^^Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to GuaiamuStudio [2016-01-08 21:02:53 +0000 UTC]

The particles only work from within the program, and I guess this is the same with other programs. I was surprised when they made it work inside AE as a plugin. I think that is as far as it goes, since they have quit updating it way back then. But it's still usable. We can export particle animations to video with alpha, and composite them in other video editing programs if needed.

That' greatttt!!!You still have the plugins and use them in the AE?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to GuaiamuStudio [2016-01-09 20:23:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! This was done in Flash, I don'tΒ know how to useΒ AE. In addition, the plugin doesn't work with newer AE versions.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GuaiamuStudio In reply to ken1171 [2016-01-10 15:08:11 +0000 UTC]

Oh :/ I don't know how use it too, i used only one time in a looong time ago ^^"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to GuaiamuStudio [2016-01-10 19:42:51 +0000 UTC]

Anyway, installing this plugin on AE CC results into an error message when you try to use it. I think it only works with REALLY old AE versions. No wonder, since it hasn't been updated in years.
