Description ~Japanese Crests~

A little modeling exercise with complex shapes. Those are 10 Japanese crests from between the 11th and 17th centuries, and I've tried to reproduce them to the last detail.

Hope you like it and thanks for coming by!

Nice! I'm half japanese and my family crest is actually the one on top second from the right- 3 chrysanthemums!
Did you pick these ones for a reason?
I was always told my family lineage comes from Samurai... I never really knew if that was true.

Thank you! I am also half Japanese and my family crest looks like the mid bottom one, but with 3 feathers instead of 2. I was also told my family descends from Samurai, but frankly, most Japanese claim the same thing. LOL Β  Nonetheless, when traveling to the north of Japan, I've found a medieval Samurai armor in Aomori with my exact family crest on the chest plate and helmet, and my eldest uncle has an ancient (broken) katana he keeps in a box that has been passed down for generations. The sheath features our crest faded by time. At our family tomb in Tokorozawa, the older stones has the crest so faded away that it's barely visible after 800 years. The oldest stones are already unreadable, which proves that even casting things on stone will not prevent TIME from eventually erasing us history. ^^

Thank you for sharing that, Ken . Such a rich history of our ancestors
that we will never see or know! So if you're half japanese, what is your
other half?

Nice. I used to do the same thing back then using Metasequioa. Instead of crest I was modelling random product logos like Reebok, Nike, Nintendo, etc.

People can do amazing things with Metasequoia. It's an amazing program for the size and price. ^^
