Description ~Lip sync test~

Just a little test with lip sync in Poser Pro. Took hours to render and I had to skip shadows. This was another try on making use of Poser animation layers, but I keep getting stuck with it because animation curves get locked when in different layers and cannot be edited. On the other hand, the advantage of asynchronous animation is that the character can walk and talk at the same time, and I can set the timing for it independently.

Figure is V4. Hope you like it and thanks for coming by!

Nice work, but I can't seem to focus on her lips long enough to tell if the sync-ing is any good.

Hehe I think the Poser built-in lip sync is not that great. Sometimes dedicated tools can do a better job --> [link]

When she said : "Will work with Poser Pro..." it seemed like she was stuttering.

ken1171 In reply to lightangelhimika [2009-05-26 07:36:34 +0000 UTC]

Might be still loading the clip. Chances are it will not stutter 2nd time you play it.

The loading was done,though.

This animation is GPU accelerated. If your video card doesn't support that, chances are there might be stuttering during playback. ^^

Lipsync isn't as easy to do as it looks nowadays.

Very nice, who made her voice?

This animation was meant to be played with the help of GPU acceleration, and from my little survey I estimate about 50% of the people have it. For everybody else things may lag. ^^

I gotta get the money together for a better computer, a Reactor mebbe.

You could be surprised how much improvement you could get from your old computer by just adding a faster video card. ^^

LoneStranger In reply to ken1171 [2009-04-19 06:22:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah but then I'd find the next thing to upgrade and the next thing to upgrade and eventually it'd just a situation of saying "screw it, new system".

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to LoneStranger [2009-04-19 07:56:06 +0000 UTC]

Not necessarily. You can greatly improve your system by getting a new video card. Even 3D games need more GPU than CPU nowadays. ^^

LoneStranger In reply to ken1171 [2009-04-19 18:45:38 +0000 UTC]

I know, but there's almost always a faster processor, more memory, etc out there so a wholesale upgrade would work out well.

Besides if you look up the Reactor computer you'll see what I'd love to upgrade too.

Right now I have a pretty good processor and mobo, but I need more RAM and the mobo only takes up to 4Gb. -_-

If you ever upgrade to 64-bits like I recently did, you will notice Windows 7 uses way more memory because it separates every process on their own memory space, which makes the OS more stable at the expense of loads of additional memory usage. I would love to have 8Gb RAM right now...

You mean Vista or the one they're dumping that one for?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to LoneStranger [2009-04-21 04:41:03 +0000 UTC]

I will rarely refer to Vista because it does *not* work, and I already gave up on it over a year ago - after beta-testing it for a year. Windows 7 is a whole different story, where this early beta version is more stable than XP, and way more efficient. I have XP + W7 in a dual boot but now that I think of it, it has been a *long* time since I used XP again.

LoneStranger In reply to ken1171 [2009-04-21 04:43:13 +0000 UTC]

Not using XP in favor of the post Vista system is not a bad thing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to LoneStranger [2009-04-21 04:51:15 +0000 UTC]

Indeed - I am surprised myself. And the only few times I has to reboot to XP was because of software incompatibilities. W7 is still in early beta and few companies are writing updated software for it. One of my biggest headaches is 3DSMAX9's OBJ export plugin that crashes in W7, so I model in W7 but have to reboot to XP just to export the final models. O_o;

I have no doubt that in time all of these things will be ironed out. As it is now, W7 64-bits has recognized all of my software and hardware, while Vista refused nearly everything when in beta version, and even after the final release. I imagine W7 will finally retire XP soon right after release.

LoneStranger In reply to ken1171 [2009-04-21 05:26:18 +0000 UTC]

You think Microsoft would've recognized that as a problem early on in Vista.

ken1171 In reply to LoneStranger [2009-04-21 05:55:31 +0000 UTC]

I think Microsoft have recognized a lot of things in many departments, like the release of IE8 now conforming to international standards (3WC). And coincidentally, all this improvement is coming right after Bill Gates finally left the company.

haha nice, but as the lady said above you should try to emphasive her lip movement more to complement the words more.

ken1171 In reply to ben187 [2009-04-17 19:01:27 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I used like 40% phonem scale, and I thought that more than that makes her look funny instead of talking. Perhaps it may look she is not emphasizing the words because the animation is rather small and it is difficult to see. ^^

Are you using Mimic?

Also, I can give you a female voice, if you need one for this dialogue.

I used the default built-in Poser 7 lip sync (called Talk Designer).
I would *love* to have a real voice instead synthetic one. ^^

Still need that voice?
