Thanks! Used a 4K texture on the tshirt, so the details look crisp. ^^

What other ideas do you have. Are these going to be shirts you will have printed out?

I am making some others tonight, but they can only be worn by 3D people.

I apologize. I thought it was shirt design for real life sale. Lol.

What program are you using for these people?

Hehe well, I do sell my 3D clothing at my online stores, so other people can dress their own 3D characters. The program is called Poser, sold by Smith Micro. ^___^

I see. I saw the "Blender" program online and watched a tutorial to make a female and got stuck so I walked away from it.

Modeling the human body is one of the most challenging things, and Blender has a rather complicated interface. You should start with something simpler. The first thing I have modeled was just a simple t-shirt in 3DSMAX. Many 3D modelers can't model a human figure, so don't be so hard on yourself.

That is good to know. What other types of work do you like to make on there?

ken1171 In reply to X-Bra [2016-08-10 08:10:44 +0000 UTC]

I like to make clothing for 3D models, and sometimes props to go with them. For example, I am making a police outfit and had to create a gun, a radio, handcuffs and ammo clips that go on the belt. Modeling a police cap was also challenging, and it has a metal badge on the front. So far I only have the cap, belt, and everything that goes on it. Still have to model the shoes, pants and shirt, but you can see the parts I have already modeled below. Took me 2 days to model the gun, and it has lots of moving parts that can be animated.

That is pretty crazy that you are going to make them be animated too. Great work on the cop. How do you make certain parts shine so well?

ken1171 In reply to X-Bra [2016-08-10 08:26:06 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, everything that moves on a real 9mm pistol can be animated as well on the one I made. The shine comes from setting up the materials for each part. Metals are actually pretty simple to setup, just by making the diffuse color dark and giving the specular an actual color, since metals reflect different colors (as opposed of everything else). It's useful to know those things so renders become more predictable.

So it's not like you have a light source somewhere that you can move around and change the angles on easily?

ken1171 In reply to X-Bra [2016-08-10 08:54:29 +0000 UTC]

Well, besides materials, lighting is an art on its own right. I have 2 books on my shelf just on that subject, and it took me years to get better with it. Different renderers use lights and materials in different (and often incompatible) ways, so it's always a challenge. But in general, we can move around and configure lights any way we like. Of course, only some kinds of lights can be moved. For instance, a distant light can only be rotated to indicate its direction. The spotlight is my favorite kind of light because it doesn't spill light all over the scene, so it gives us more control.
