Description Model & MUA:
Wardrobe: of [link]

Special thanks once again to Elegy Clothing for providing us with this gorgeous wardrobe! I look forward to collaborating again in the future.

This is the second day, as well as the second location where I photographed this look, in order to ensure the best photos I could get. On the way to the location, I stopped to pick up some props - including the cotton candy you see here.

Sweetest shoot, ever. Thanks for the candy, Miki!

I liked this photo a lot. The concept behind a loli in the woods eating sweets is great. I think the MUA did an excellent job. You couldn't have picked a more pretty model. As far a photography, I believe you have a pretty good capture here. The lighting is well placed and sufficient. The photo is also pretty sharp.
I don't think you should have blurred the background in your processing. I think the lens bokeh would have been more than sufficient. The added blur effect really makes the photo look fake. Even more so when you sharpened certain places on the model. Example, her face is super sharp but her feet (which is on the same depth of field) should also be sharp or at least in focus. Other than that, the photo is great. Good job all around to you and your team.

Just a note. If you aren't using a tablet instead of a mouse for processing, you should really look into getting one. It really helps. I noticed that your blur layer aren't masked well enough. You can see the gap around your model (blur/sharp). Using a tablet will help you get into the tight spots easier when masking e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me anytime to chit-chat about photography. I think you have good skills here e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

Thank you for the critique, it's very much appreciated.

As for a few notes, I had showed the original image to a professional photographer I'm friendly with, who found the background to be too distracting, and suggested that I blur it - and I did find the blurred version (we're not talking much blur), to be a little more aesthetic. My mistake was not sharpening the ground.

The blur you're seeing around the model and at her feet, is actually as a result of my aperture, as I was shooting at f/1.6 on a full frame camera, so the depth of field was razor thin, and the dress did puff out quite a bit, so her feet were a good distance back.

I'll definitely watch out for the blurs in the future. I had gotten a tablet, but it stopped working after a month - so I'm just sticking to my Apple Trackpad.

I do need to work on my post processing techniques, though, as they're 90% self taught, and I'm surely going about things the wrong, or more difficult way.

Thanks again for the feedback!

Thank you for being so positive about critiques. I love your attitude. I'm no where near pro level but I try to help where I see I'd change things. I too am all self-taught. Welcome to the club T_T sorry to hear about your tablet. Must be devistating to lose yours. I've been using a cheap Wacom Bamboo for a couple years now. So basic and cheap but does exactly what I need it to do; mask layers What were you shooting with there? 85mm 1/2 on a 5d mkII? I've never really worked with an 85mm. I'm thinking at full body shot, perhaps you bokeh was a bit nervous looking so you opted to blur it. Definitely understandable.
*note* Ok, so I didn't know you had ur exif data on the page. Sorry just saw it right now. Yay! I guessed ur setup Lolita dresses are really fun to shoot. I'm a fan of lolita myself. And you're definitely right. Mostly they are poofy so you have to adjust DoF for that. Hope you shoot more loli in the future. Their dresses so cute!

She looks so cute in that little dress! What is she eating, is seems to fit to the picture. Although I think I like the first picture better, because it's in the field. It seems to fit this girl better to me

Haha, looks like a korean version of alice in wonderland doens't it?
She really stands out because of the mindblowing pink!

I do like the little touch of blue fluff in her hand. She's also holding a pink piece, i think it should have been blue as well to stand out even more.

Lovely pose; it gives off an air of innocence and playfulness that's perfect for the outfit. It really stays true to the title. The background is great, an interesting contrast to the girl's prim and proper style. The lighting id great, not too overpowering but highlighting her nicely.

Great depth of field! Love the bokeh! The dark green of the background sets off her light pink outfit beautifully. Really outstanding color combination! I like how her hair is done in curls too.
