Description

Yeah. I'm pumped for Pokemon Sun and Moon. Meanwhile everyone's going gaga over Pokemon Go. I tried it .......it's fun. It seems like too much of a hassle to play it responsibly, but it's fun.

ProjectComment  I chose this piece because of the strong emotion I felt while looking at it. The imagery of the best emerging from the sea is a powerful one indeed. The eyes of the beast appear set on his goal as he rises higher. I find it interesting that its wings are not more spread out, but that could be due to the instant that this piece depicts. The sky is very grey, indicating something foreboding, like a storm or an upset of power in some way. Part of what makes this piece so emotive is the way in which the water is depicted. It is not shown to be very definite in line or colour but rather it seems to have almost a feathery look about it. I believe this is done intentionally by the artist to show how freely the beast has emerged from the water, as though nothing can stop it. The beast, however, is shown to have definite lines and form. To me this indicates a sense of strength and purpose, defiant of the water. This also indicates definite intent as he rises from the sea. The beast also has scales on its back and tail, which could indicate that he has not come to his strength by accident, but rather he has fended off enemies to become the warrior that he is. The last element of the piece I would like to comment on is the bejewelled star in the corner of the picture. I am not sure whether this is part of an anime or manga series, but one of the hashtags indicates that he is in fact a pokemon, so my comment is based on that. This star shape may indicate a belonging to some sort of group or clan. This could give a very different meaning to the beast's ascent from the sea towards the heavens. The beast may be called home or for his clan to gather. The fact that the beast has ascended from the sea is an image of strength at any rate. I think this piece is very powerful and a good job overall by the Deviant.

Hello.
I kinda like pokémon, so I thought it's a good picture to comment on. First of all, I like this picture, it looks really good. The pokémons are well done, and I love how you captured the movement in the picture. On the other hand, there are parts that could be improved. First of all, the background. It looks cool, but I'm not sure if it's water or some smoke like clouds. The secound thing I noticed is that the water looks a bit weird. It looks like jelly. The colour of the water is too vivid for this picture ( in my opinion ). I like the shadeing on lugia, but it don't really have a clear light source. The last thing I noticed is that the water is a bit too blurry, meanwhile lugia, who is moveing rapidly upwards is cristal clear. I think you did a pretty good job with this one, the pokémons look really good, just try different colours and shapes for the water, try to improve the way you draw it and it will be absolutely perfect.
Keep up the good work and stay awesome

A real explosion of movement and dynamism: I can't find a single piece that is standing still, it's all a twister of water and wind, the waves hug Lugia's body and give speed and energy and it looks like the sky itself is cut in half from the jump. Impressive, really!

From Project Comment Here
First of all the idea here was really great. I don't know that much about pokemon so bare with. Texture wise it was a really good start for trying water. The background is the best texture here. It looks liek it may be either a giant wave looming or liek he is in the clouds. It is a very soft sort of cloud like background. You could have achieved something closer to this with the water if you had used more muted colors. Ocean water doesn't shows up that blue. The water seems a little chunky especially around the white bird. I would use a smudge tool to make it stream longer. Starme or the purple thing just looks kinda stuck in there. I think he belongs in a different composition. The forms of the pokemon look pretty good I would just work on that water texture and color a bit more. There are lots of ways to paint water.Keep up the good work!

I love how Lugia is coming out of the water!
I also like the way the Starmie is over down in the corner like 'Great, not this again'
